Avec Superscript² il y a quelques jour et Karl Nawrot aujourd’hui, Lyon est représenté dignement sur cette première saison de Ding Dong Paper. Dans le travail de Karl, on perçoit une rupture très marquée entre sa pratique du graphisme et celle de l’illustration, il a d’ailleurs un nom d’emprunt, Walter Warton, pour signer ses dessins, mais l’une nourrit pourtant l’autre, sans cesse et vice versa. Comme Karl, son site (www.voidwreck.com) est très discret, mais un moteur de recherche, section « image » devrait satisfaire votre appétit.

With Superscript² a few days ago and Karl Nawrot today, Lyon is on the spotlights for this first Ding Dong Paper season. Karl’s work is clearly divided between graphic design and drawing, he even took a pseudonym to sign his drawing works, but each part is nourishing the other. Just like Karl, his website is very discreet but the « image » section of a search engine should satisfy your curiosity.

FR Dernière ligne droite avant le lancement, aujourd’hui on vous balance un studio de design graphique et typographie lyonnais, qui a beaucoup bossé dans la musique, la culture, l’architecture, parmi d’autres domaines et toujours avec le souci de construire ses compositions dans des structures et des grilles presque apparentes. EN Last run before the launch, today we present a graphic design and typography studio from Lyon (France), working in the field of music, culture or architecture and always with an eye for structure and grids in their compositions. FR Mercredi, c’est tomhenni. Tom est sans doute la personne qui représente le plus la philosophie dingdongpaper. Il exploite et mélange avec aisance toutes les facettes technique de l'illustration, du graphisme et du dessin contemporain. Le résultat de tout ce mélange donne des images hybrides, super riches et hyper personnelles! C’est d’ailleurs tellement riche qu’on ne savait pas quelle image choisir pour vous le présenter. EN Today, Tom Henni. He probably is the most representative artist of what we want to do with Ding Dong Paper. He explores and mixes with an easy touch every sides of technique, illustration, graphic design and contemporary drawing. The results of that mixture give birth hybrid images, super rich and very personal. That’s also the reason why we didn’t know which image to chose to present his work. FR Hello, c’est Damien, une moitié de Ding Dong Paper​. Vendredi on a atteint la moitié de la sélection et aujourd’hui il est encore question de moitié, l’autre moitié du projet, François Godin. Il va nous préparer une petite illustration aussi, parce que l’air de rien, si on a monté tout ça c’est aussi et surtout pour se faire plaisir. Donc, tel que je connais François, un style simple et une simple ligne lui suffiront pour nous emporter dans des histoires qui ne manqueront pas de raviver des souvenirs de l’histoire du dessin tout en nous poussant vers le futur. EN Hi, it’s Damien, half of Ding Dong Paper. Friday we passed through half the selection and today, it’s about another half. Half of the creators of the project, François Godin, will prepare a drawing for us. If we created Ding Dong Paper, it’s also to have fun, right? So, as far as I know François, his simple style and design will tell us stories which will bring us to the history of drawing and in its own future. Oh, and that’s his website: François Godin.

EN We’re already half through the Ding Dong Paper journey. But only the presentation of the artists. There’s another trip we’ll take you through, month by month, when we’ll put each image online, starting September 7. What do you think about it so far? Today, just before weekend, we would like to introduce you to Moolinex. A mood robber, a humor smash in a inventive crash and a roulade full of urgency, violence, grace, freedom, life… Yes, that’s the word to describe his work: stimulating.

EN Do you get what we do? A little bit? Starting from September 7, we will put online a new image every month. An original drawing made specially for Ding Dong Paper by one of our artists. Today, we introduce you to Aurélie William Levaux, capturing the female soul with delicate but powerful style and meaning. FR En attendant la première « vraie » image du projet qui arrivera le 7 septembre, on vous présente Léa Maupetit ( ukulelemaupetit ). On a découvert son travail sur Instagram et Tumblr et on a pas pu résister à l’envie de l’inviter à participer à Ding Dong Paper. Ses dessins révèlent une sensibilité enfantine et sont dotés de la justesse et la rigueur nécessaire au métier de graphiste et typographe (le métier qu'elle a appris à l'école). EN While we wait for the first « real » image to be released on September 7, we would like to introduce you to Léa Maupetit ( ukulelemaupetit ). Her drawings shows a great child's tenderness and are endued with the precision a graphic designer and typographer needs (what she learnt in school).
