There’s no end to the audacity of this man! Barging into Sakura’s place of business with some weeds!

Only he use to wear a hoodie that hide his unusual appearance, and was one hell of a fighter. until he moved away. when he comes back ready to officially attend Furin High, Umemiya had already achieved his goal making Haruka learn to adjust to the new Furin.

Sakura Haruka was one scary Middle Schooler that no one knew the name of and had somehow befriended Takiishi and Endo, becoming the most feared in Furin (despite not being a student) before moving away, and coming back to the friendly, calmer version of Furin.

“I lived here a while back,” he said, eyeing her carefully. “But if you want to think I’m a real weirdo go ahead.”

“That wasn’t what I meant,” she laughed a little, turning to face him. She waved her hand dismissively, “how far back is a while, I'm pretty sure I’d remember seeing someone as unique as you around.”

“Three years give or take.”

“Oh wow, that was back when there were a lot of gangs in town, fights and turf wars were breaking out all the time,” she hummed.

Haruka nodded in agreement. It was shocking to him how much it had calmed down now.

“That being said I’m not originally from this town either, but I’m pretty sure I was around when you’d been here. Strange wonder why I’ve never seen you, my name's Tachibana Kotoha, by the way” she introduces herself. With a smile Kotoha says “Eat up.”

Haruka doesn’t move to eat. He sits and stares. She seems familiar but he can’t place it. He also knows she won’t recognize him if they had met. Haruka used to wear a hoodie to hide his different features.

Sakura, as proudly mentioned, has had a lot of things smashed into his skull over the years. All of them he took like a champ, too, because it’s not like it was much different from a black eye or strained knee. Or, at least that’s what the thought until… whatever it is that happened Friday night, and now he knows how it feels to really, truly have one’s bell rung.

Truth be told, he has no recollection of it whatsoever. Usually when he hits his head, the double vision is short-lived, with any headache it causes not making it past the night. But this time it’s been a full weekend and his mind is still in such a haze he’s not even put off by the brief loss in memory. The world has fallen under a filter of grey. Static crackles where his thoughts usually sit.

dissociation + feeling like he's gonna die (suppressed panic attack asf)

being overwhelmed by all the emotions if he felt them

the dissociation from reality/wanting reality to freeze bc he just can't keep up

the antonyms (/oxymorons) between "I'm breakable/shakable" and "unbreakable/unshakable" being Suo's internal vs external feelings, putting on this unbreakable and unshakable front while internally feeling like the exact opposite, leading him to snap

the unravel fits esp well with Sakura's metaphor of this knot of negative/hurtful feelings that he visually unravels in order to push them away, that can work very well for Suo too

unraveling the world = pushing down his feelings/everything before they are the ones to pull him under, before reality catches up to him and he has a crashout (he is so close to a crashout)

"give up your searching, I don't want to be found" has literally been all but said explicitly

to see his friends' reactions to his "betrayal" would make him be even more consumed with guilt (+ the way Nirei looked at him at their "goodbye" haunting him...)

dissociating + trying to mentally detach from Furin

"I'm not the same, don't call my name" him thinking that his friends don't care abt the real him + his name's pronunciation not being the one he goes with as a way for further distance

"don't wanna hurt you" left/didn't tell them bc he didn't wanna involve Furin

"but if you must see, look through your memory" don't come looking for me, don't find out the reality of who I am, just remember me as I am in your memories, pls, I'm begging you.

“Sakura?”

“Give me a second.”

“Hey, stop, what are you— oh.”

“I said give me a second!” He snaps over his shoulder, and shit, he shouldn’t have looked, because he can’t figure out Umemiya’s expression. It’s way too neutral. Surprised? He doesn't know. There’s no scorn, no disgust, but there’s no warmth either. None of the reassurance he’d apparently been hoping for, and God, isn’t that a little pathetic?

Sakura looks at his hands again. His skin is a mess. It’s all red and white and he thinks there’s purple crescents blooming from where he almost tore his flesh open with his nails.

“I don’t know what’s happening.”

And so, there are only two situations where Suo can let his guard down and not try to act wise. One is at Makochi, where everyone just sees him as an ordinary high school student. And the other... is in front of Bacchus and Rakta, when it’s just the three of them.

Suo was left alone at the dining table, unsure of what to do with his two older brothers’ untouched portions of dinner. He eventually finished the contents of his own bowl slowly, then knocked on the doors of his two older brothers’ rooms one after the other.

It was always three knocks that went unanswered, followed by a single call—enough to make the doorknob turn. That made Suo feel a little happy—that neither Bacchus nor Rakta would ignore his presence, no matter how bad they felt. So, that’s how it went: he brought each of them their portions, and both ruffled his hair slightly as a gloomy expression of thanks.

Still, those two days felt too long, and Suo quickly grew bored.

Grabbing his jacket, he leapt out his window and began running.
