The Digiverse,Ā āBig Freezeā
Alright, letās talk about this verse for a bit~ There is not much to explain, itās just the current setting of the Digimon Universe that will be valid for this blog, unless partners suggesting otherwise. Kele is generally free for any Digimon Universe, Iāll just be stating the one heās from~
I will be making points of the world while comparing the details and worldbuilding from all digimon animated series (and game but I only played Dusk/Dawn so Iāll keep only those in mind)
Letās go from begining~
-The Digital World was formed due to the influences of other Digital Worlds in the multiverse. The existing data of other verses was saved in small bits until this world grew to be itās own. It eventually gained a shape of Strip (think of an RNA?), hard to see or tell unless extremely distanced from the surface of it, which isnāt quite possible due to the data space around it not being wide/distant enough. Usually, it would result into dropping in other plane/verse/earth.
Shortly put, it was not created by neither humans nor digimons but originated from pieces of other Digimon verses existing/created before it.
(note that even the strip itself is spinning but slower than the sun/moon orbit)
-Due to itās origins, this Digital World is fairly easy to access from any verse and world. It might seem kind of farfetched but considering it wouldnāt have existed without other world in the first place, it kind of makes sense. After all, first digimons to inhabit it were the ones who got lost from previous worlds and ended up there. Later, as more data got merged with this new world, more digimon started to pop out, live there, build the system, advance it, grow more, grow different, experience different, be unique etc. Itās why itās not odd when gates to other worlds are open at any time or any place. Itās also usual to see digimon you wouldnāt normally see in other worlds~Ā
-Humans, or specifically āthose with partnersā, also have access to it as much as digimon. There is a parallel Earth that exist closest to this world as well, however, it had nothing to do with itās creation. It simply, out of all worlds, had the closest universal distance to it and more access to one another.Ā
However, humans donāt know much about digimon, or rather, not all of them do. They know they exist since portals and wondering digimon were hard to hide until things got a bit stabilized and other control with a use of a Digivice (Multivise). All population know they exists but it usually means trouble. Those who have digimon keep them a secret and away from normal life on Earth in order to keep peace and not cause panic. There are groups of people who specialize in researching Digimon and Digital world but with lack of proper access to it, they just try to keep things at normal.
Those with partner digimon, blessed with a Digivice and appropriate digimon partner, have proper access to it and back. Electronics are not necessary to create the hole like openings in space time to pass through, just a mentioned Digivice.
-The Digital World contains all currently known and existing evolution methods. Yes, that goes from very first series to latest one (The Appmons are still a bit of a mystery but it will be added as game/show hits publicity). However, what comes with acquired Multivice is a system to make the evolution and boost possible, not the program itself. It has to be gained, which is a reason why Humans venture around Digital World. Obtaining the proper program for the digivice usually comes in chip cards, resembling memory cards. Chips themselves are hard to find, easier methods are to share the programs with other Multivices who already obtained it. You gotta share to show you care~ :D
The only system that doesnāt require a program is normal evolution, since only emotion and close bond is needed to give your digimon partner (or other digimon) that kind of boost.Ā
Wild Digimon have the ability to use various evolution methods without a device. The only thing they need is a mutual feeling and a reason, as well as someĀ strength and knowledge to pull it off.
-Stages of Digimon evolution do not defy them by strength. Sure, one does grow stronger but that wonāt mean anything if digimon doesnāt know how to use it or that Child stage digimon trained enough to pack a good punch against a Perfect. The world is built to highly varies on this department, since digimon are sentient beings. (I also didnāt want to render them to just stages if they have potentials to be their own characters of the story). Simply put, character and personality defies their strengths and weaknesses.
-The system of the world is āAutomaticā. That means the world grows and changes as more data from other universes arrive, some older parts of the word die out (the very end of the spiral) either due to errors or for being outdated. If the world works on āManualā itās due to the disaster that struck the world (Big Freeze), digimon have to operate the system themselves so the world would not die and not completely be on stand still, since digimon need it to survive. Not a lot can be done in this case tho, a lot of Manual work requires teams all around the world.
The current state the digital world is in (story wise).
The Big Freeze is an occurrence caused by still unknown source that disabled Automatic function on the world. In other words, everything is in a stand still. No rotation, no day and night, no life, growth or death, no new data, everything is frozen, in program terms and means.Ā
Digimon, however, as sentient beings that live there, were still alive and moving despite the world around them coming to a stop. The evolution were no longer capable. Digitama werenāt hatching. Dying digimon were not turning into digitama...
Suddenly, everything fell into complete chaos. Since food was no longer growing digimon turned possessive. From there, they turned violent. From there, stronger digimon started taking the rule...
After some time, stronger digimon realized they all have the upper hand. Slowly but in large numbers, digimon usually from Adult and stronger started to group and create their own rules. Weaker and smaller digimon were suddenly treated like slaves, doing Manual work of the system for their stronger counterparts, gaining very little in return. Eventually, and order of Highrule was created. They were several strongest digimon who took the charge of the world and commanded stronger digimon There was no threat for them to be taken down, with all higher evolved digimon living in the riches, weak ones could not grow strong to overthrow them if there was anyone against the new order.Ā
Gods (Four Holy Beasts) were busy maintaining order of the system to seize control. They could not allow for whole system of the world to fail and all their power went to handling the Manual work of the system so any digimon can live.
With that, small and weak digimon had no one to turn to for help. With just a small ounce of hope that they can change something, they started to turn toward only ones that can defy the current order and fix the system
Majority of portals were no longer in function but smaller ones still existed. Small enough for tiny digimon~ They were able to enter the various worlds and help humans, specifically tamers for help. An advantage of being small and seemingly unimportant, the Highrule of strong digimon have no idea they are summoning help... :)
