Been listening to the same song over and over while out and off to school and I ended up with a small story for Higgs. I am way too lazy and tired to write an actual story cuz Iâd honestly rather draw it into a short comic than type it out so have a quick version~
Higgs was less on the streets as his usual night and wild life ever since he started going back to classes and school. Things have been busy around his siblings and friends that he more or less forgot his sweeter companions.
Well, he didnât really forget about them as much as he decided to make distance, seeing how crushing on Saya developed. The girls themselves decided heâs not worth their time any more anyways and moved on.
However, it didnât go too well for one of them. Itâs just so simple to get a single night of fun, she decided to try get herself in a lasting relationship. While Higgs was busy going back to school and making friends, Lady (I donât have a name for this girl yet but itâs the one on the right in the image above) got herself into an abusive relationship with a punk. She didnât know better and things were slowly escalating from the âguy that is gentleman and looks after meâ to âhe wonât let me leave and hits me when I refuse to do what he wantsâ. Saddest bit being that she honestly thought she doesnât deserve better. What made it worse is that guy was a psychic type esper, a lvl 2 but one that could manifest mild hallucinations that cause panic, fear or rage.
At some point, out of desperation, she texted Higgs to see him and maybe talk. Higgs thought not much of it but he did feel bad for never properly saying goodbye to his free days. Sneaking around the outer building walls as usual and heading to the meeting spots he visited when still having fun with the girls, what waited him in the rental rooms was something unexpected.
He stood just outside and listened to an angry guy beating a girl he would always be gentle with to the point of her sobbing from pain and fear. Higgs just stood on the wall next tot he room window, feeling himself teeming with slow growing rageâŚ.Â
Couple of days later, the guy was casually walking down the street. Not too far behind, Higgs was following him, his eyes darting that man like daggers.
Higgs knew the city streets like the back of his hand, so he simply followed and waited until a punk like him would be alone in an enclosed area. It wasnât too difficult as punks like him and alike only hang out in such places. With that, the punk could easily notice someone was following him. At this point, Higgs didnât even try to sneak around, he just shown himself in front of the asshole and grin, like he always does.
They exchanged few words, making the guy realize Higgs is trying to be the hero and laughed. He wasnât scared of someone younger and with no muscles. However, Higgs had the agility. And used it. So first blow, a straight up and unexpected punch to the face, was Higgsâ. It was only then his grinning smile formed into a frown with a cold stare. The guy was furious but he laughed off the first punch. It was nothing compared to many hand to hand combats he had on the streets.Â
And the two begun to fight. Higgs was swift and took advantage of his a bit smaller size and speed. They exchanged few blows but Higgs was fooling around. The punk got angry at some point and his rage manifested into his ability.
Hit by the mental shock, Higgs fell down to his knees, seemingly facing Edge in front of him. He was about to strike with his knife and Higgs flinched. There was no cutting or stabbing, just a strong blow to his jaw, making him fall over and roll on the ground. It didnât take him long to realize what was happening. The headache still made him see his enemy was Edge, the monster. Still, the laughter he heard didnât belong to the same. A blow to the stomach made him lose air and vision for a bit. For those blurred moments, he saw the punk laughing his ass off before Edge manifested yet again.
He mocked Higgs. He was now the one fooling around.
Higgs got up to his feet and stared the enemy into the eyes. Just understanding what was happening was enough. The words of his future brother-in-law (? curse my weak english) from training rang in his head. It was enough for him to build courage and attack the monster (in his head). Higgs rushed, dodged, swiftly moving so every single fast attack would miss, disorienting his enemy. Then, he managed to land an elbow into the head. He finally saw that punk again and this time on the ground, struggling in painâŚ
He was about to leave it at that but the angry asshole got up and grabbed him by the arm, attempting to pull him in. Higgs had enough. He grabbed onto the near by pipes and used his ability. The shift in gravity pulled the punk towards the ceiling but not Higgs. It was a long way âdownâ. The punk started to panic.
âHah, look, I read your fear without using an ability like yours.â Higgs grinned and spoke in spite, his words almost poisonous. âFalling.â
And he let go of the punks armâŚ
Some time later, battered but playing it cool, he visited Lady who was on her own. Of course, she questioned what happened and he, with quite a bit of exaggeration, explained. The punk was thought so he only ended up with a broken arm and damaged leg. Lady was in shock and she even got angry he got himself involved like that. But⌠she was very grateful. It still didnât mean she would be safe from that guy. Higgs shrugged and explained he knows people from both Judgment and Anti-Skill that trust him so she can always report his ass any time she likes.
Lady was taken aback. She then grew a big, bright smile full of pride. This kid she got to meet only for the fun nights she somewhat used in a way finally had a normal life and people who truly care for him.
âDid you nabbed yourself that girl?â she asked out of nowhere.
Higgs had to pause surprised and grin awkwardly. âWho, a womanizer like me with a nice girl like that? Are you kidding me?â and just laughed his hidden feelings away.
âGood, then, I can do this.â Lady leaned in and gave him a long kiss on the lips⌠for the last time. His expression mellowed, knowing just from her look in the eyes that it was meant to be as a goodbye, at least for those things between them. âCall me so we can hang out, at least, âkay?â
And Higgs nodded, giving her a warm smile. âSureâŚâ
