Everyone knows about the stories of Harry Potter. The boy who lived, the chosen one. It was the story that captivated people and gave them a sense of hope.
You had been one of those people. Constantly sitting around, dreaming and hoping for a world that you can only read about or see on tv.
It was one of those things that reminded you of home, and happiness. Even when the world around you seemed to be falling apart.
But as you got older, and time went on, you were beginning to lose that spark of hope.
"It's called shifting." Amalia sighed through the phone, throwing her hair up into a messy bun. She was your best friend and the only person who obsessed with all things Harry Potter as much as you did. "There's different methods you can try. But I've never tried it."
You scrunched your brows together, lips pursed as you contemplated Amaliaâs words. There were a few people on TikTok who have 'shifted' in to their desired reality and for a while now, it was beginning to peak your interest.
"Does it really work though?" You asked, watching the video once again, on your phone.
You sat crisscross on your bed, your left hand mindlessly playing with a few strands of hair. You had been deep into Harry Potter TikTok now, and honestly, you didnât seem to mind.
"Why don't you try it tonight and find out for yourself?" Amalia shrugged.
At this moment, You thought for just a moment to yourself. It wouldn't hurt to try, right?
Even if it doesn't work. Whatâs the harm?
You let out a soft sigh and shrugged. "Maybe."
As time went on, the two of you continued your night with TikTok. Spending most of it in silence, watching and rewatching videos of random people who are also just as obsessed with Harry Potter.
Thoughts were flooding your mind with visions of the characters, and the home you had never been to or seen other than on the movies. You started to feel the need to be consumed by it. Something you knew you could easily do at any given time.
"Alright, I am going to bed. I'll call you tomorrow." Amalia muttered.
"Okay, talk to you later."
And with that, she hung up.
You had felt so distant from life lately, with all the restrictions and politics and the pandemic that were happening right now, it was hard not to feel anxious. And scared.
Everything had been messy and chaotic, and You didn't want to deal with it anymore.
After a few moments later, you laid in bed in complete silence with darkness surrounding you. Once you were starting to doze off here and there, you took that as your cue to begin the process.
You turned one of the shifting subliminal videos on, and placed your phone down next to the bed. You sprawled out; arms and legs stretched out, and closed your eyes shut.
You inhaled deeply, ridding all other thoughts and exhaled with hogwarts in mind. And with that, you began counting to 100.
As you continued counting, the thoughts of hogwarts became heightened. You would not let anything break your concentration.
But it was easy for you to imagine that reality. It was something you did quite often. Almost like your very own fan fiction playing in your head.
You werenât sure if it was even working to begin with. It felt like any other night. Other than the weird voice mumbling in your ear. But then suddenly, your body began to feel a bit tingly, almost as if it were just on the brink of going numb.
Once you hit 100, you finally allowed yourself to fall into complete slumber. It wasn't hard, due to already being exhausted, you were able to fall asleep with no problems.
At first, there had been nothing...just the muffled sound of the video in the background and darkness. Only darkness. Maybe it didnât work?
"Watch out!" Someone yelled from behind.
You turned on your heels toward the sound, just before you collided right into them.
Immediately, you lost your balance but before you could even touch the ground, you felt something snake around your waist, and firmly holding you up.
"Are you okay?" The voice muttered.
In that moment, you looked up and met a pair of familiar eyes, ones you had only ever seen in movies.
And suddenly, your mouth dropped.
"Cedric." You exhaled, surprised.
