fred couldn't believe what he heard. george, a slytherin? a total joke, an insult! there's no way they were that different enough for them to be in different houses, especially for one of them to be in slytherin in all places! they're twins, IDENTICAL twins. they did everything together, they had the same goals and dreams. they had to, right? no one could tell them apart for a reason! so why? what did the hat know about george that fred doesn't know? george wasn't anything like those evil slytherins his family talked about! george wouldn't hide this side of him from fred, right? but, if this old all-knowing hat said so… oh. wow. george, why didn't he fight this? there's no way he'd rather be with a bunch of dark wizards than be with fred, right?

george felt sick as he walked to the slytherin table. he could barely stomach looking at his brothers' shocked faces. guilt and shame filled his entire being, because who ever heard of a slytherin weasley? seeing fred look at him with such a betrayed look makes him want to cry on the spot. he wouldn't have minded the other houses as much, but to be sorted in the house no one in his family liked? he basically knew no one in slytherin, only awful rumours and sneers from the older members. is he now condemned to the same fate of evil and dark wizardy that his parents say every slytherin goes through? what about his and fred's joke shop? would fred still want him to be a part of their dream? would anyone even want him at all?
