Second Star To The Right

“So you do know where we are, what is it? I never seen this place before. What could you possibly complain about, it’s beautiful.”

“Palm Springs, California. I could complain about the fact that I’m not back on my own island, which is also quite beautiful.”

“You get pretty used to it, what do you mean magic?”

“I can fly, as well as usually appear wherever I want. If the magic here works like Neverland it should still work that way.”

“Yup this is the mansion but for all we know we could end up somewhere again it’s always unexpected.”

“That just sounds inconvenient. How do you guys plan anything big if you don’t know if you’ll be staying here?”

“Told you it was big”

“You definitely weren’t lying when you told me that. I didn’t expect it to be this large.”

“How are you sure, people will forgive you? People can’t just forget what you did. ”

“They forgave you, didn’t they? And you were much worse than me. I’ll find a way to make it up to them.”

mabel nodded excitedly at his words. “so far you are. in the movie, peter was cool and exciting but kinda of…self-centered? i don’t know if that’s the right word. but you’ll just see for yourself when i show you the movies. then you can also sing the song whenever you want to. i can even sing it with you!”

Self-centered definitely still described him but telling her that wouldn’t be good for him, though she would probably figure it out eventually.  “When are you going to show them to me? I’m not much of a singer but I do play an instrument so I could do the music and you could sing.”

“i would love you forever if you did that for me!” mabel was getting ready to squeal. she was certainly beginning to feel even more fond of him. “oh, okay. well the good thing is i’ll actually get to know the real you! and also, yeah. you guys all sang a song about being what a lost boy was all about. these are the things we lost boys do! oh no, no, no. i don’t call my brother grunkle. my brother and i call my grunkle, or great-uncle, grunkle! my brother’s name is dipper. my grunkle’s name is stan or stanley! .. i guess it is kinda confusing.”

“I suppose I have to do it now, don’t I?” Her excitement made him grin, though he was wondering how being nice to her would work to his advantage in the future. There had to be some way she was useful, besides just showing him things in this world. “I’m much better than the movie me, I bet. I’d be interested in hearing that song, I don’t think that lost boys ever sang when we were in Neverland. Oh! That makes more sense.”

“Don’t you remember?, I was the evil queen. Let me guess, you changed because here you don’t have magic, so you have no other choice.”

“I’ve died before and it’s not something I’d like to repeat and the only way to stay alive is if I stop making so many enemies. I’m choosing the lesser of two evils by being nice to people now.”

“Should’ve known, you can’t be kind. But I agree, it would help us both. Well, I believe hate’s a strong word, I don’t like you, much.. But why would I? You kept me prisoner. Well, let’s get to work, shall we?”

“At least you’ve finally realized it.  Oh, love, it wasn’t personal, I just needed your brothers to help and they needed incentive, I wouldn’t have kept you on the island that long otherwise. Yes, let’s get to work, I suppose we should try and figure out whose in charge of this place first.”
