Not giving you my email wtf. What’s wrong with regular asks?

Thank you for the question! There's a few reasons why the Submission Form asks for your email:

1) The Submissions Form has the option to upload a picture (of the character or their cliff fall) which requires an email. (Pictures can also be submitted with a link).

2) This is a very big project and unfortunately I can't watch/read every media that has this trope, so the vast majority of submissions will need to be crowdsourced.

3) Each Character Post will include a lot of information (check out our Full Tag List for an idea of what will be included). To make it easier for Submitters, I added the option to email responses and the option to edit responses after a submission has been made. So Submitters can submit a character and edit their response later if they want to add more details.

4) The more detail a Submitter includes, the faster the post will go up. Any missing information will need to be researched which will take longer.

5) Tumblr Asks wouldn't work because of the aforementioned details each post will include and no ability to save an in-progress submission.

Collecting emails is NOT the purpose of this blog and any Personal Identifying Information will not be used in any way. Google Forms was chosen as the most familiar way to set up that part of this project (and will make sharing submissions (excluding Submitter PII)) easier in the future.

If you want to make a throwaway email and submit a character please feel free to do so!

Ever wondered just how many characters (usually don't) die from falling off a cliff? Well, that's what this blog is for: a newly born archive of all those fictional cliff falls and their aftermaths. As with any proper archive, let's lay down some terms: What counts as a cliff?

Any very tall rock formation where a reasonable (realistic) expectation is that anyone falling off of it would die. The cliff has to be dry but can have a body of water underneath it (a wet cliff is called a waterfall). Ledges and islands are also disqualified, as are pits rip Hualian* and (anything you wouldn't call a cliff). *If this series has a cliff fall I'm not remembering, lmk What counts as a character? (Who is eligible?)

Any FICTIONAL character from any* commercial media (books, TV shows, animation, movies, comics, etc.; NOT Fanworks). This is an archive of commercial media. No Real Life Examples. Character must be Named (Main or Minor Characters only) *Media must be in a setting where characters are NOT Cliffed to avoid an onscreen death (this disqualifies most kid shows and a lot of Disney media because it will skew our results). The point of the archive is to chronicle the contrary expectation of cliff falls (usually not) being fatal. Can I submit a character? Yes please!
