Kellye and her family also may have experienced hostility during WW2, being Asian-American. There is some inconsistency in the show regarding her heritage - she is described in one episode as half Chinese, but is given the surnames ‘Yamoto’ and ‘Nakahara’ (the actress’ own surname) in others, both of which are of Japanese origin - but either way, Kellye’s background represents someone caught in the middle between two warring nations, either the previous US/Japanese hostilities in WW2 during her childhood, or the Chinese during the KPA.
