What is it like being in deaf shoes...?
I get this question every day. Wondering what was it like. Often sayig that Iām lucky cause I donāt have to deal with noises. My response: Can you survive without music? Wellā¦. Can you? I can, because Iām used to it. But you couldnāt cause you need music. Cause you want hear your favorite bands such as green days, black veil, one direction, somo, etc. can you image yourself without a voice of your favorite singer/band? Being deaf is like half great and half terrible. Iāll tell you why. At end of my story: will your answer still same or change?: āCan you survive being deaf?ā
Good side of being deaf: Can sleep in and not have to worry about background sounds. I can ignore people. Get some benefits. Have a beautiful language (American Sign Language) and etc.
Bad side of being deaf: Canāt understand people saying to you. A lot of discriminations. (They talk behind your back and you have no idea) Hard time to find job. A lot of oppression from people. A lot of audism. They will think you canāt do it and such. It really painful. They donāt understand deaf cultures. 2/6 parents signs and have commutation with their deaf children.
And the lists go onā¦.
But I donāt mind being deaf, God created me and have purpose for me. It just the way I am. Thereās nothing I can change about that. But thatās okay, cause I have big deaf pride. (:
Well, did this change your mind of your answer? Itās your opinion. And weāre not judging you. So thatās part of deaf life sound like.
Thank you for reading my long post! Have a nice night and as always Go DEAF POWER!:)
