Using transcribers has ruined me outside of the classroom. Now when people start talking to me and I can’t understand them I automatically look at my computer screen.

Amazing post about Ménière's disease! http://www.chronicadvocate.org/understanding-menieres-going-bilateral/
This is a great post that describes living with ménière's, being diagnosed, and the process that ensues. This individual is an amazing writer and I recommend this highly. I have been dealing with the disease for 5 years and between that and genetics it's taken more than half my hearing and it is always making me sick. This person hits it spot on! 5/5 Great read!
I do a lot of driving for my job, and I'm #deaf. I've seen too many news stories the past several years of police interactions with the deaf and disabled at traffic stops that end in tragedy. For my own safety, I will have these magnets on the back end of any vehicle I operate. I know my local officers know about my inability to hear, but I'm not always in my home area, especially for my job, so I need to take steps to protect myself and prevent a bad situation. I got these from eBay a few years ago, but I'm sure there are other online sources now. They are magnets, not stickers, so they can be removed and placed on a new or different vehicle easily. I can also remove them for work on a film or television set. #deaflife #deafproblems https://www.instagram.com/p/COqVfvaBO09/?igshid=k4ipsue7ct00

Not too sure my first experiment in low carb baking went too well. I've never worked with these ingredients or this countertop convection oven before, at least not for baking, and ended up almost cremating all but the very last batch that I watched like a hawk. Note to self: get a cookie dough ball maker to make all cookies the same size and to speed things up so you're not washing your hands when the timer is going off and vibrating. I don't suppose it helps that most timers are not deaf friendly? Even the one on my phone. I need to see if I can change the settings on it before I do this again. I ate a few of the worst victims, and they tasted good, but these are a lot of cookies for me to eat by myself. A whole 8 inch Pyrex baking dish full of low carb sugar free butter pecan cookies. Recipe I used: https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/low-carb-butter-pecan-cookies-2 #deaflife #deaf #baking #lowcarbrecipes https://www.instagram.com/p/CNRTtgrB5e7/?igshid=5pgfth5sc7vo
I hadn't ridden in a few weeks, so my numbers are abysmal. I also spent time chit chatting with the ladies working at Parker's and Huddle House tonight. I rode home with a glass of half sweet and half unsweet tea. As you can see, I now have motorcycle mirrors on the bike (thanks to Dan putting them on, or I'd still be growling at them) and the taillight with turn signals (thanks to Levi for the suggestion on where to attach it to the rear of the basket). I can now see traffic coming up behind me, and they see me better with the bright taillight. I will get a better headlight that I saw at Walmart in Statesboro and install it, and I will be done making the tricycle safer for night riding. I just need to remember to put my inhaler in the bag on the handlebars. Debating on a helmet for maximum safety. I need to get back into a routine and schedule my rides. It will be cooler soon so I can ride earlier. #deaflife #deaf #deaftalent #fitness https://www.instagram.com/p/B2GdV5dhXe6/?igshid=1tvwg97byi2l7
This is 100% true. If you “can’t understand me” when I have had 15 years of speech therapy and backed up lifelong by family at home, and further act ignorant or get angry at me when I ask you to say something again because I couldn’t figure out a couple of words you said, I’m just not going to make any further effort to communicate. Communication is a two-way street. Remember that when you interact with people. #deaf #deafproblems #deaflife #deaftalent #deafcommunity [Image description: photo is a screenshot of a tweet by some deaf dude on Twitter. Hearing person: I wish I knew sign language, you're cool to talk to. Me: learn it then. Them: oh I don't have time, it would take me years. Me: imagine how long it took me to learn to speak clearly. Them: must have taken a long time. Me: oh yeah. YEARS. Them: *stares* ] https://www.instagram.com/p/B1bwP_XnjV6/?igshid=1ndtjs3gq16ux
