& then you get back and. He's dead. Gone. You'll never have a chance to make it right again. You'll never know why he abandoned you, why he wanted you dead. How is he supposed to live with that 😭

“How To Be a Homewrecker: 101” by nachtofthedead

Screamed my way through this. I loved this one so much. Binghe is haunting the marriage the whole way through!!! We don't directly get to see his search but it's there nevertheless and I gotta say, I loved seeing a slightly darker (and very petty) Binghe. Also pour one out for the wife, Shen Qingqiu is unfortunately completely obsessed with one man and one man only. (It's only hinted at but what do you mean Shen Qingqiu chose a gruesome way to kill himself in the hopes that it will make him feel less guilty. On god we're gonna get you some therapy)

“All Our Missing Pieces” by celardor

I’ve lost count on how often I’ve reread this. It’s one of my absolute favorites. It’s from SQQs perspective but seeing Luo Binghe try to figure Shen Qingqiu out again when he keeps contradicting himself from before, was super interesting. Bai Wentian has left such an image in my mind, I'm very fond of him okkk!!! The progression here is very good

A slight au with some insane miscommunication. Absolute horrible job everyone. Binghe is grieving SY, who's right in front of him!!! Suchhhh good emotional scenes!! There's a specific one that lives rent free in my head but it's a spoiler so you'll just have to trust me 😌 (I can't name one character in this fic who's not one light breeze away from crying istg)

The beginning had me HOOKED!! Idk what it is but I'm always surprised by how it ends, lol. Binghe is a hollow shell of his former self and I wanna bundle him up in a cozy blanket:(. (Shen Qingqiu you're fooling no one. Your disguise is thoughts and prayers)

AHHHH!! *Beating SQQ with a stick* Binghe only wants to be at your side!!!!!! Are you listening!!!!! Shen Qingqiu trying to make Luo Binghe into Luo Binghes perfect wife. Ah yes. Fellas is it normal to think that even if your former student will forever hate you, maybe it will be worth it if you can just give him this last perfect thing? A last parting gift before he kills you? If Ju Ying can make Binghe happy it will be worth it? 😀 (basically Shen Qingqiu falling in love with Luo Binghe in disguise and being angsty over losing his "two" favourite people to each other)

This isn't directly after the abyss but if you want some grieving Binghe... This is your fic. Shen Qingqius Binghe fixation is strong in this one. Tunnel vision all throughout. 10/10, very accurate

He goes to shen yuans place and ties him up in bondage and edges him and fucks him into subspace and when shen yuan is completely out of it binghe brings up the girl

Bingge: a girl said she was interested in you today

Shen yuan, feeling so high he can't even hear binghe: mhm

Bingge: you're not interested in her right

Shen yuan closing his eyes: mhmmm

Like, for example:

Binghe: "System? Can you show me Shizun's current, ah...'stats'?"

System: [Opens a screen with way, waaay too much information. Health Bar, Mental Health Status (which is broken up into smaller units like happiness, stress, and two mysterious categories labeled '???'), hunger/thirst, and Status Conditions (which, at the moment, only contains Without a cure).]

Binghe: @A@ [overwhelmed]

Binghe: [snaps himself out of it] ònó "I will learn quickly. For shizun!"

And Binghe does, but for a long time, nothing he does seems to change anything in the Stat window, even as it tells him things like '+20 happiness point!'.

Then, as the conference looms ever closer, his shizun starts to become quieter, and the system starts jumpscaring Binghe with short, unexplained '-5 happiness points'/'+20 stress points' messages. They're easily fixed with good food and distractions, but no matter how much Binghe looks into the matter, he can't seem to figure out where his Shizun's sudden distress comes from.

(That day, when Shizun asks him if he's willing to do anything to become strong, Binghe's poor heart receives a shock when his answer earns him a delayed '+50 stress points!')

At the edge of the Abyss, even as things go horribly wrong, Binghe's system doesn't shy away for a second. Every few words, it warns him of severe point gains in the stress category; but if he's honest, he's too busy trying to convince his Shizun that he's still good to pay that the attention it deserves.

Later, when he finds a safe place to hide and cry, the system opens itself unprompted.

[System update: New Categories Unlocked!]

It turns out Shizun's stress levels rose drastically in the moments leading up to pushing him into this place. Not only that, his happiness points *tanked.* In fact, they tanked so drastically that it met the conditions nessecary to finally reveal those mysterious '???' categories.

Binghe sobs. The new categories are 'Fear' and 'Heartbreak', and one is already decently high.

Throughout his time in the Abyss, he constantly checks Shizun's status window. It's the only thing he has connecting him to Shizun, yes, and at first that is the only reason he looks at all, but as some time passes, he begins to realize that those stats labeled Hunger and Health are gradually falling into the negative categories. Mental Health is stagnating at an alarming low number as well.

"This one doesn't understand. Shizun threw me in, so why...?"

"'In-depth'...? Would that explain why Shizun is...like this?"

[Affirmative.]

He agrees. Suddenly, Hunger is accompanied by two timers showing how long it has been since Shizun last ate and drank. Health breaks down into sleep, hygiene, and energy. Status Conditions has added a timer, too, tracking the time between flare-ups as well as the percentage of Without a cure's slow conquest of his poor Shizun's body.

It's slightly underwhelming. At the same time, as he looks over the timers and the new subcategories, his mind starts painting an impossible picture.

Shizun isn't eating. Shizun isn't sleeping. His heartbreak points aren't lowering.

Shizun is *sad.*

Shizun... Was he missing Binghe? The same way Binghe misses him? Did he... maybe regret throwing him away?

The idea sinks in more every day. Gains traction with every hour Shizun neglects himself; for Binghe likes to believe he knows his shizun best, and skipping food and rest was most unlike his dear beloved.

It had me a bit confused though because if Wei Wuxian isn't supposed to sound "American", what's he supposed to sound like? A Victorian gentleman? An Elizabethan court jester? Just don't expect him to sound Chinese when you're already reading an English translation.

WWX speaks modern words because that's what he does in the Chinese original - this is what I find fascinating about these Chinese internet fictions, which is that they're often an interesting blend of poetic literary/classical Chinese and modern day internet slangs and idiomatic humour. I grew up reading tons of serious literary fiction so I find this especially refreshing. One of the main goals for online fiction writers is to keep their readers engaged and hooked, and a story written entirely in literary Chinese would be too much of a slog that might make readers lose interest. This is why even in the works of authors like Meng Xi Shi who tend to use formal/literary language, there're still plenty of modern day slangs and quips strewn about.

SVSSS x Witch Hat Atelier (pt 3)

Meet Master Shen's loyal and trustworthy Watchful Eye!!! Reliable as always, Liu-shidi 🙏

I had sm fun figuring out a design for Witch!LQG and went with something sort of prince/knight inspired, since he's always given me that vibe in canon. Also an excuse for me to indulge in liushen crumbs!!!

Him and his sister are from a very established witch family and lived in the Great Hall for some time, until he got sick of it and left to go adventuring. He signed up to be SQQ's watchful eye after learning that he suddenly wants to move his atelier outside of the great hall, thinking he's up to no good (LQG still believes SQQ is SJ at this point). Little does he know that the SQQ he now lives with acts so different from the one in his childhood and unexpectedly becomes fond of him (as all watchful eyes do with the masters they protect, anyways)

Burning, dissolving, cooking, etc. This fundamentally changes their cells to the point that they cannot be healed. Doing sufficient damage to the whole body in a short time period could kill them— for example being pushed into lava or an acid pit.

— Being Minced

Without the ability of blood to flow, the blood mites can’t repair tissue. If a Heavenly Demon is cut into a bunch of very tiny pieces, their blood cannot flow enough.

— Being Starved Physically/Spiritually

While demons can practice inedia to an extent, they cannot live off it forever. The body needs continuous energy to keep living, even Heavenly Demons.

— Death by Vampire

While they can produce more blood rapidly, if the blood is being sucked vigorously enough, the Heavenly Demon will eventually be drained dry and die. However this could take days and multiple dedicated vampires.
