It has been over 32 years since Voldemort was defeated, effectively marking the end of decades of fear and turmoil for wixen across the UK. For the first time in a long time, all was well. Well… sort of. In the early post-war years, the Ministry imposed the Rebuilding Act, allowing the seizure of the abundant wealth and assets of ‘prominent’ wixen households who had either aligned with the wrong side of the war, had ties to the Death Eaters, or those who flat-out remained, “too neutral in the face of evil.” The seized assets were meant to help the magical world rebuild and to create a brand new government aid fund. Those who were impacted typically lost their social status, prominence, wealth, and oftentimes, their livelihoods as well. For those who weren't impacted, it feels as if the world moved on. For those who lost everything, it feels as if a new conflict is inevitable and on the rapidly nearing horizon. Will growing tensions start to slow? Or will they ignite so intense that the magical world explodes under the pressure?

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post a quick reminder now that we've opened up our actual site URL for limited guest viewing to PLEASE not register an account until you've submitted a membership application and been approved. Though we've decided to share our URL, we are still a semi-private site, and that means that we still expect everyone to still follow the same joining process.

Please note that joining without having been accepted as a member (aka receiving a Discord invite) will result in the deletion of your account(s) and potentially a ban from future membership.

We want to keep things fair for all, and keeping things fair for all also means respecting the rules we're put in place as staff.

We've decided to start advertising our site URL so that potential members can look over our WANTED ADS, skin, etc. before joining!

Please remember that you need to fill out a MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION before joining/registering since we are a semi-private site,. We're hoping that this will allow people to get an even better feel for our world building, wanted ads, reserves, current members, etc.

Yes, as of this moment we're current on our Google Form submissions and have reached out to everyone who's been accepted. If you weren't accepted the first time around, that's totally okay, and you're welcome to try again.

While going through our membership applications, we were looking for members who truly helped us to understand the types of characters that they're wanting to bring to our RP. This isn't to say that it's quantity over quality by any means when it comes to the length of replies on the membership app, but we wanted to at least piece together a vague idea of the character(s) you were wanting to bring to life — and your preferences as a writer as well.

For example, instead of perhaps just saying something like "I want to play a healer". We were instead looking to get a rough character summary. Maybe something like "I'd like to play a healer who works in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in the Auror Office. She's working through some long ignored trauma/PTSD as a result of the Carkitt Disaster and is currently pulled down both sides of a crossroads. One one hand, she has a desire to extract herself from her current career path to try and preserve her own mental health, but, on the other, there's a guilt/feelings of selfishness that come forth at the mere idea of leaving the Auror Office because if she's not using her skills to try and help/save others, then what's she doing with her life?"

Regarding the Discord, we're not really basing it off of the number of apps, but rather just whenever it seems to work in the timeline? For full transparency, the main thing I'm trying to plan around (on a personal level) is the actual first day of RPing date since I'm going to be at an MLB game next Saturday (May 31st), and I want to be around for ease of everything on the opening day.

Let me talk to staff so we can work out a full timeline. Once we have a date sorted for the Discord opening, I'll add it here as an edit and make an official announcement as well. Right now, I'd likely say a tentative Thursday, Friday, or Saturday of this week? But let me figure out the concrete answer and I'll let you know!

EDIT: It looks like we're hoping for Thursday or Friday, but I'll let you know for sure later on today. We have one admin who's traveling this week and one who's feeling a bit under the weather, so it's all about balancing around that!

Sure! The Rebuilding Act was implemented after the end of the war as a way to rebuild the magical world both physically and also in hopes to lessen inequality and heighten equity in the magical world. Although the way this came about most prominently was in the form of asset/wealth seizure from those on the losing side of history (think kind of Treaty of Versailles/Germany/World War I reparations), there were other aspects to this act as well.

An example would be something along the lines of heightened internship opportunities with the Ministry for muggleborns/those that grew up in the muggle world as children or scholarship funds for school supplies for those from lower income households that were paid for with those seized assets. In regards to the first example in particular, the Ministry really tried to identify a lot of the sources of the intense nepotism intertwined with magical society and do what they could to rectify those faults.

In regards to characters and their families, the Ministry hit families rather hard with this asset seizure — and weren't always completely fair with it either. Families such as the Carrows, Goyles, Greengrasses, Notts, etc. all would have been hit heavily with this asset fortitude due to familial involvement in that side of the war. The Ministry was rather indiscriminately with their seizures, and even if a specific branch of the family didn't necessarily participate, that still wasn't necessarily enough to prevent asset seizure.

In the present day (with the generation of characters we'll be writing) this might lead to situations like the once wealthy Yaxley family losing properties, assets, and the vast majority of their wealth which would lead to the children (now adults for us) growing up in a vastly different life than their parents did. It could also lead to situations where perhaps a random relative of a death eater married a member of a neutral family and their wealth might have been seized anyway. Think of any Voldemort association kind of like a stain you can't shake — if there's any indication, the Ministry had no qualms against taking what was "theirs". The only antidote likely would have been someone that was a prominent member of the Order? But there are always exceptions.

For those who've submitted an accepted membership application, all of that information will be on the Discord as we'll be opening that up for reserves before allowing access to the Jcink site for freeform app work. For guests, we're still deciding at the moment whether or not we want to allow site perusal (with limited accessibility) for those who haven't yet applied. I can't quite give you a concrete answer there as we haven't yet decided ourselves, but if we did, it'd likely be limited access to only the Guidebook (which includes our claims) and the Wanted Ads. That being said, an alternative could always be adding a reserves page into our Google Doc Guidebook? I'll talk to the team and see what we decide.
