Care to stay a spell?

“Put your wet things in the bathroom, I’ll wash them later.” And then he sat down on his bed and waited. 

His eyes flickered to the clean clothing and he stepped forward, starting to dress again. “Thank you.”

Leo was watching Shad with this entertained look on his face. “Why did you even come here?” Leo figured he wouldn’t be seeing Shad again, since they sort of argued last time he was over. 

He finished getting dressed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Because what I remember happening AFTER that is us kissing.”

“You’re right. Shame you’ve been away so long, you might have actually gotten somewhere with me. Funny, too.” He didn’t laugh. 

He could woo Leo again, he knew he could. If he was given the chance to. Shad took a small step forward, “I bet I can woo you.” 

“Your hair is a mess, ugh. You look even more like a dirty peasant. Do me a favor and burn those clothes when you get yours back.”

Shad shook his head a few times, trying to dry himself off before he reached out and heavily knocked on the door. Leo had to be inside! Who’d be outside in this weather? 

“What are you doing walking around in the rain…are you wanting to get sick?”

Shad answered, eagerly stepping inside. He glanced down at his clothes then looked back up at Leo. “I was on my way here, but then it started to rain! I didn’t want to head back home, so… I just kept on going until I made it here.”

“…You’re an idiot. Come on then, I’ll take care of you.” Why did Leo always get stuck with the dumb ones?

“You don’t mind taking care of me?”

Leo opened his mouth to say something, but instead he stepped forward, grabbed Shad’s shirt, and kissed him. “Stop making this hard. I don’t want to hurt you, but you have to understand that I’m not good for you. Take a hint.” 

He raised his arms, took the chance, and lightly grabbed Leo’s wrists. “I don’t want to leave you. I care about you, a lot.”

"You're a stubborn, and stupid boy." I love you. He wanted to say it, but he didn't. He refused to allow himself to be sucked in that far. He'd be completely screwed if he was sucked in that far. "Come sit with me, since you insist on staying."

"Shouldn’t you be the one afraid of being hurt? I could roast you alive if I wanted too." 

Shad quickly wiped the tears away with the back of his hand and sighed, eyelids lowered. “You seem pretty angry at me. Do it. Not like I’m going to move at all.”

Leo opened his mouth to say something, but instead he stepped forward, grabbed Shad's shirt, and kissed him. "Stop making this hard. I don't want to hurt you, but you have to understand that I'm not good for you. Take a hint." 

Now he just wished Shad would buy it.

Shad shouted, tears blurring his vision. “Why don’t you tell me the damn truth?! Are you THAT afraid of getting hurt?!”

"Shouldn't you be the one afraid of being hurt? I could roast you alive if I wanted too." 

"And how dare you assume there were feelings running around. I’m not like you, I don’t do the whole love thing. By the look on your face though, I’d say that’s a good thing for me.” The look Shad had on was heartbreaking, but it had to be done before someone got seriously hurt. Best to just drive him away before Leo got stuck.

There’s a connection, there has to be!” Uh-oh, the tears were coming and he couldn’t stop it. Shad eyed Leo, his hands curling into fists down at his sides. “I’m not leaving until you tell the truth, Leo. Y-you’re spouting lies!”

Now he just wished Shad would buy it.

"I thought it was more along the lines of a ‘one night stand’. If you’re just here to be cute and and try to win me over, I suggest you go home and save yourself the trouble and me the annoyance." 

Shad drew in a deep breath, “You actually opened up to me, and then you’re shutting me out again! I told you I had feelings for you. And I know you have feelings for me. Why are you doing this to me? Why? Why are you shutting me out?!”

"And how dare you assume there were feelings running around. I'm not like you, I don't do the whole love thing. By the look on your face though, I'd say that's a good thing for me." The look Shad had on was heartbreaking, but it had to be done before someone got seriously hurt. Best to just drive him away before Leo got stuck.

He wrapped his arms around himself, his eyes still focused on the taller boy. “Grateful for your mercy.” He repeated, his tone slightly defensive. “Do you think being in a relationship…is when two people avoid each other? It seems that’s what you’re trying to do now.”

"I thought it was more along the lines of a 'one night stand'. If you're just here to be cute and and try to win me over, I suggest you go home and save yourself the trouble and me the annoyance." 

"You ruined my whole night, I had everything planned out, so yes, I’m in a bad mood." Leo seemed confused as to why he wouldn’t be in a bad mood. "If you’re coming inside, then get your ass inside before I shut the door again." 

Shad hadn’t meant to upset the wizard. …but he stepped inside anyway. “I’m sorry.” His voice was soft and he put his instrument away before rubbing the back of his neck. “I just really wanted to see you.”

"ALRIGHT. You can come in, just shut up." 

Maybe he could turn that frown upside down! He didn’t like seeing Leo upset, after all.

"You ruined my whole night, I had everything planned out, so yes, I'm in a bad mood." Leo seemed confused as to why he wouldn't be in a bad mood. "If you're coming inside, then get your ass inside before I shut the door again." 

…oh look. It was his moron. Maybe if he just pretended he wasn’t home Shad would go away…

Pulling out his Oud, Shad began singing some random love song. He strummed along as he sang, and he was SURE this would get Leo’s attention. Right?
