Just read a ‘self harm’ fic and at the end the author said “yeah I hope this is accurate! I’ve never struggled with self-harm” which—first off—is good. And second off, HELLOOO!!??? I DIDNT KNOW NON-CUTTERS WROTE FICS LIKE THIS???? I ASSUMED EVERYONE WHO WRITES SELF HARM FICS IS LIKE.. WELL SELF HARMS IDK? Just discovered a new breed of people. And I was so utterly shocked by this discovery that I had to log onto tumblr to make a post about it. My mind is blown.
Though honestly I could tell something was off about it, it felt kinda vanilla compared to most of the sh fics I read. Like the character didn’t even get the chance to cut and instantly went clean + accepted help upon being caught? It’s possible I suppose, but I have been around the chopping-block a couple times and I know what sticks out.
