any st. sebastian fragrance would involve wood - the tree to which he was bound and slain. it's the only element of the material world we can readily associate with his fate, so, here: cedar!

but sebastian's story is not about wood, and despite Cèdre's name, it's not all about wood either.

Cèdre is actually about spice and tuberose (the most mysterious and intoxicating of fragrant flowers). because martyrdom isn't merely a function of arrows and pain and the tree to which you're tied. martyrdom is something rare, sweet, and exquisite, something you're gazing at just out of frame, up and to the left, intoxicating, beyond reach until now — beyond reach except to you, with the warm spice of blood dribbling down your supple torso, yes, you, you beautiful suffering thing, you saint!
