Letting out a small laugh, she nodded her head. “I could do the same thing but honestly, you’re right. Living here doesn't’t make it easy. It would be easy months ago when life wasn’t such a shit show.”

“It sucks that it has to be like that,” Harrison sighed. “I’m tired of this guy getting press.”

“It probably hasn’t made it big, since it’s such a shit small town. No one probably gives a shit.”

Harrison furrowed his eyebrows. “There’s a serial killer who’s killed four people and attacked four more. It’s made the news in the surrounding areas at least.”

‘ well — i appreciate that. ’ she chimed.

“What brings you to the station?” he wondered. 

“Oh, for sure,” she agreed, “One of the most comfortable things I’ve ever worn but so, so impractical. It really is. I’m just glad I have my popsocket because otherwise, it would be down my pant leg every day.”

“Which would get very old very quickly,” Harrison nodded. “I can see how popsockets would be useful there. I’ve got one of those stick on wallets on mine or else I’d leave my cards behind, so alas, it would never work for me.”

brooks: it keeps me awake at night.

‘ given, actually. ’ she smiled. ‘ my mom was a bit of a weirdo. ’

“That’s even cooler then, in my opinion,” he smiled back. “Better than recycling the same like, twenty names.”

she smiled sweetly at him ‘ that’s okay. i’m little. ’ she teased. she offered a hand. ‘ my name is velvet. youre….harrison? ’

“That’s me,” he nodded as he shook her hand. “Nice to meet you, Velvet. Cool name, can I ask if its given or chosen?”

“I feel like it’s an american thing.” she laughed. “that and catcher in the rye are the two mostly read in middle schools I believe.”

“You’re so right about that one,” he laughed. “Gatsby too, I feel like those have to be the top three.”

with her brand new leadership, the brunette had to live up to what she had been asking for. she was sat outside of police station, waiting to spot the sheriff or any cop, she peeked up from her phone when someone sat on the bench beside her. ‘ hey — ’ 

Another death at the hands of the grudge meant every officer was working overtime at the station, and even the ones at the bottom of the totem pole were no exception. He let out a soft sigh as he sat down on the bench near the station, not registering he had sat down next to someone else until they had spoken to him. “Oh, hey,” he said gently. “Sorry, didn’t see you.”

“me neither,” he said. “it would be interesting to read outside of here, to live it? sucks ass,” he said.

“I can already hear the dateline special about the psycho in the back of my head,” Harrison groaned. “And everyone who doesn’t know the town saying how it could have been different.”

“I read the book eons ago in grade school but never watched the movie so now I guess I have to.” she smiled. 

“Did everyone in America read that book in middle school? Or maybe it’s just this state, but I feel like its a universal middle school read.”

“ah, yes! that’s the movie I was looking for. “ she laughed. “I don’t watch a lot movies.” she added 

“You should give that one a watch if you haven’t,” he smiled. “It’s a classic, I think. Hits a little close to home for Riverdale, though.”

harrison: damn i never thought about it

“Honestly me too, you ain’t alone in that.” She chuckled a bit. 

“Like, I could defend the place if I wanted to. It has some good people, and great places within the town. But the life here doesn’t make that job easy.”

“Eh, I’m not really the leggings under shorts kind of girl,” she admitted, “It doesn’t fit my aesthetic. Leggings do but not shorts with them. Which, also, leggings fucking suck becauseno pockets. I have to put my phone in my waistband and use my popsocket to keep it from falling into my vagina.”

“Yeah leggings seem comfortable, but not practical,” Harrison nodded. “That phone situation sounds like a nightmare.”

“Really my only choice is to walk around naked,” Liv shrugged, “Or at least without pants. Or shorts, I guess shorts are fine.”

“Shorts would get too cold in the winter though,” he said. “Unless you wore like, leggings underneath or something. My sister Heather does that sometimes, but she does it for fashion, I think.”

“That sucks, I’m sorry,” he frowned. He laughed lightly when she described how others must see it. “Those movies don’t go together at all. Maybe West Side Story and The Outsiders.”
