I really want to write an essay about why I think Project Hail Mary needed that ending scene on Erid to conclude its character and thematic arcs to counteract all the criticism about it having "too many endings", as if it having an open ending where people can imagine both Rocky and Grace died horrifically and painfully in space is somehow the better way to depict this story.

As per your question: It's a play of words of Daniel wanting Lestat to take it all more seriously. No "baby talk".
Lestat then launches into that monologue about the world today, and "Lulu Lemon" that is in black and white in the show, and I absolutely loved that, because it showed so much of what Lestat can do with words. And what he sees about the world, what he recognizes and can contextualize.
And I really loved that :)

well you see he has no choice because phil said he’d be sad if he didn’t have dan with him for all 600 years and dan can’t have that so.
but for real it makes me crazy that phil really is dan’s exception for so many things. the concept of soulmates, immortality, commitment. he’ll accept it all if phil asks or if phil is involved. there’s always a large phil in the room.
