As I've gotten a bit older, I've started to decenter the idea of perfecting my art or developing a perfect, well-rounded "style".

While I do want to create anatomically/technically correct and visually pleasing pieces that will bring joy to not only myself, but the people around me as well- I don't want to sacrifice the happiness I feel while creating for an overwhelming sense of dread to always be perfect.

What I want most when it comes to my art is to curate a personal collection of the things I see beauty in. The people around me and all of their different traits, the nature that surrounds us, the stunning structures that architects spend years upon years configuring. I want to end up with a visual diary of the things I love, so I don't look back on my creations and instantly think about how grueling it was to perfect the angle of an arm or the straightness of a line.

#like i always spent so much time agonizing over each piece being better than the last and striving for perfection each time #and yeah trying to grow is important but sometimes it gets to the point where its not for fun anymore #it becomes a process of trying to be perfect for others perception of my abilities and not a process of creating things that make me happy #and id like to make creating things for the sake of creating things my focus!!!! instead of trying to make the Perfect Thing every time!#ramble ramble ramble
