[ID 1: A graphic showing the updated asexual pride flag for 2026, which has six horizontal stripes of: Black, grey, white, yellow, pink, and purple. Grey; Acknowledges asexuality as a spectrum of identities [incluging grey, demi, and microlabels]. [ID 2: A picture of the original asexual flag, with four horizontal stripes of black, grey, white, and purple. Text below reads, "First officially used in August 2010, the asexual pride flag consists of four horizontal stripes: black, grey, white, and purple from top to bottom. The asexual pride flag, also known as the ace flag, was designed by A.V.E.N. (Asexual visibility and education network" user "standup" after the network held a contest on its forum boards. The flag's deisgn was chosen after a month long campaign that included multiple threads and three stages of polls on A.V.E.N. as well as voting in other asexualcommunities." The color meanings are listed as: Black: asexuality. Grey: demisexuality, gray-asexuality. White: Allies and partners. Purple: community.". End ID 2.]
[ID 3: A graphic reading, "On international Asexuality Day 2026, Ace in Grace proposed a new asexual flag that centres asexual experiences. In 2023 she opened a public discussion on what the asexual community thinks about the white stripe on the ace flag representing allies and what it could represent instead. Most of the comments were in favor of changing the ally stripe. In the same year, she contacted the A.V.E.N. board on changing the white stripe's meaning and had a meeting. Some A.V.E.N. board members actively ignored her, whilst another left during the meeting. On I.A.D. 2024, she launched the ace flag revision survey to collect raw data and revealed the results on October 16th 2025. 82.7% of respondents felt it was necessary to change the meaning of the white stripe in the asexual flag. Despite promising to follow up, the A.V.E.N. board ignored Ace in Grace's data. Because of this Ace In Grace created an alternative flag which is optional to use. End ID 3.]
[ID 4: Text reading, "There's an active smear campaign against the Ace in Grace flag. "But I miss the old flag!" No one is taking away the OG flag, this is an optional alternative. "Why not update the current flag?" Ashabi tried to propose changing the white stripe in 2023 and was ignored by A.V.E.N. team members. This is her alternative. "She's being defensive / mean / rude / forcing us to use the flag!" This is tone policing and antiblack dogwhistles. Black aces have [the] right to defend ourselves against harassment and strawmanning. "There shouldn't be a love stripe / there should be aroace colors instead" The love stripe includes aromanticism and non romantic love. This argument also eraces alloaces who are also a part of the community too. "It stole the lesbian / nonbinary / MAP flag colors" These are lies. The colours across all of these are different." End ID 4.]
For my own comment, I really do not like that aromanticism is included in the stripe for love, and only then as an afterthought, it seems like.
It does not feel like enough aroace people were properly consulted on this flag that is supposed to be for all aspec people.
I never saw any polls or surveys about this, so, obviously I didn't get a vote. I think the pink stripe being said to represent arospec aspecs really need to change, that's just erasure in a flag that's supposed to be centering all of our experiences.
These colors are also highly saturated, and are guarenteed to cause migraines if not seizures, so the "official" colors will have to be changed to make them accessible.
These are not insurmountable obstacles by any means, but this flag absolutely does not feel ready to be accepted as an "official" new flag, not when it's erasing arospec aspecs and going to cause photosensitivity issues for those of us who are disabled in this way.
Update: on instagram, the creator says she explicitly does not give anyone permission to change the exact shade of these colors unless we're changing *all* of them to match. This is an accessibility issue that I'm hoping will be resolved.

[...]a quick question @_aceingrace_ you don't mind if i charge the shade of the colors if i use it for some drawings of the new flag? Just asking to keep it in mind
_aceingrace_ responded, also 5 days ago
@geksut_n_tuuzu I do mind, please keep the hues the same. If you want to see how others have made art, you can check my highlighted story.
and for clarity i was saying about changing the shade like doing the yellow a little lighter or something like that, I was saying about mostly keeping it the same, my bad I didn't elaborate further, sorry 😅
ahh thank you for adding clarity! The dandelion yellow is a big part of this flag. If you want to bump the shade up, please just keep the values similar. Otherwise, I love art and fully support you using this flag to create what furthers your connection so long as it’s done with intention 🙂↕️🤩
