This is an illustration of how public spaces could be designed and made future-proof conforming to social distancing guidelines. An intricate balance between conformity & aesthetics. This project shows how groups of people who know each other can still interact with each other, but practice safe social distancing with everyone else. The structure is made of TiO2 ( Titanium Dioxide ) which is a self cleaning Hydrophillic material. It also cleans the air around it. This public space experience center / installation brings people together from every angle and converges them into a central oculus. The side walls too rise to their peaks towards the oculus. [ 51 ] / PARC / / DERT Lab / D + R / Urban Design / . PARC was concieved as a form that could envelop the trees in New York parks, and generate raised platforms / walkways inbetween the trees. The concept was to generate a test code where the point locations of the trees could be fed as inputs , which can inturn generate a series of interconnected walkways for the end user to experience a closer connect with nature, as well as provide a shaded pavilion under the walkway for people in transit to other locations around the PARC ( Swipe Left to see more images ). Hence, the code generated in this case responds to the point location of the trees, the size of the openings to accomodate those trees as well as generating walkways + Accesibility from the ground up ( Entry / Exits ). This was a test site taken in a small piece in New York, can be applied to any region henceforth. . Taking inspiration from a Molluscan sea shells / Bivalve Mollusks, the form mimics the open and closed nature of a sea shell, thereby catering to it's dual function of an open & closed space.
