Casual reminder that it's okay to use pre-made and frozen stuff as a base for things you want to make. You don't have to cook something totally from scratch. Making things you enjoy, and doing it in a way that respects the time and energy you have to spend on it, that's important.
I do this ALL the time. Use phyllo dough from the freezer to make pot pie. Add extra meat, seasonings, and toppings to premade pizza. Hell, the gravy in jars is much better than the lumpy shit I manage to produce and can be spiced up and mixed with. The dishes I get the most compliments on are a mix of my own ingredients with premade stuff.
even marry goddamn berry says that making your own phyllo is too much effort and that she gets store-bought, and she’s kinda the face of home baking
there’s a reason premade/boxed mixes/frozen meals exist and it’s so that people can feed themselves in a reasonable manner. it’s totally ok to use pre-made or frozen or canned or anything- just make sure you’re feeding yourself.
