Went through my pages app earlier, and it made me realise just how many kinda neat writing projects I haven’t touched in forever.
I’m honestly tempted to take a break from drawing for a while, and focus more of my creative energy on writing for a change. I feel like it’d be good for me but who knows
The new Deltarune stuff that just dropped is wild, and I wanna talk about it
Ok so first of all, look at the insane size difference between the other chapters and 7B
For context, the size of these numbers represent how important each chapter is to the weird route. Ch1 is the smallest because nothing that happens in it matters that much. Chapters 2 and 3 are way larger because the former is where the weird route begins, while the latter is where it's first hinted towards - specifically in the mantle route. Ch4 is smaller, because while there is more weird route content within it, it's not quite as integral as the others. Finally, Ch5 is the third biggest behind 2 & 3 because of how vital the lake scene will presumably be for the route as a whole.
This new update to the website carries the idea on, because not only is Ch6 completely absent - as a direct result of us skipping it entirely in Ch5's weird route - but Ch7B is significantly larger than all the others, so much so that it's considered an alternate side of the chapter, as opposed to merely an alternate route (the aborted weird route/twistedswd route will probably be a part of 7A. I feel like 7B will be like the genocide route in Undertale, in the sense that after you've killed everyone in the Core, there's no going back)
This makes me just a little bit scared over what exactly will happen in 7B, if it's by far the most important chapter of the weird route. I for one don't believe that Deltarune will only have one ending at this point. Now if only we had some hints as to what might happen in 7B... OH WAIT!
Now, I personally have two interpretations for what this screen could mean, and I feel like both of them can work in tandem:
The symbols represent the progress of various aspects of the chapter. The map is meant to be the overworld gameplay, the clap-board is meant to be the cutscenes, the water gun is meant to be the regular enemies and finally the alien is meant to be whatever boss(es) there'll be in this chapter. As well as that, 'Same time as 7' tells us that both sides of the chapter are being worked on at the exact same time
This is meant to hint towards what will happen throughout the chapter. The map implies that we'll explore more of the worlds than just Hometown, the clap-board suggests that this chapter will lean heavily into the meta-narrative of Deltarune, the water gun hints that we'll traverse through the depths of Hometown and face some enemies while down there and finally, the most compelling for last:
The alien I feel implies either that the chapter will either have some sort of mechanic inspired by Space Invaders (in the same boat as the Punch-Out and Zelda inspired sections of the previous chapters) or that 7B will feature a boss fight against Susie; I mean, just look at the colour of the alien. It's purple.
Also, the 'Same time as 7' line probably also means that both sides of the chapter take place at the exact same point, which I guess makes sense, but it's also kinda interesting.
That's about all I wanted to say. The remaining two chapters of Deltarune are gonna be fucking insane, and I cannot wait for them

Cool detail about the shadow crystal fights in Deltarune (including the chapter 5 one)
Just now realised something kinda cool about Deltarune. All the shadow crystal fights that use a special soul variant (Spamton NEO, Gerson and Mew Mew) are either characters from Undertale, or in the case of Spamton NEO, heavily based of an UT character.
Meanwhile, the two bosses that just use the red soul - Jevil and the Knight - aren't really inspired by anything from UT and are very much their own things.
This is also true for the Flowery fight, which uses the new orange soul type, because he's tied to Flowey (obviously they're very different characters, but they're both golden flowers with a strong connection to Asgore). I thought this was a neat detail, whether it was intentional or not
