All right since someone asked, here is a (kinda) full Hitch timeline, Tonight we're about to go on a journey from interesting character to "omg boy boobies >w<"
Her we have Hitch version 1, a funny little guy with a cool style! Notice how he has a tank top but it's not overly sexualized? Present Salem take notes! Next we have Hitch version 2, here is where we start to see current design influences. Also, notice that drawing of Hitomi? Yeah Hitch used to be an artist! A fact about him that hasn't been mentioned in...months. sleep started creeping into stuck in the void territory, but the personality here is still distinct. However, You might notice that his personality is more...subdued. version one was darker and more feisty, version 2 is lighter and less feisty. Coincidence? Possibly, but still keep it in mind.

Hitch version 3, lighter once again, any semblance of feistiness is practically gone at this point. This is the point where Hitch begins to be sexualized. And where Salem moved his skill points from dialogue to "sexy" art. Also, wtf is that bra? Hitomi says she didn't get much sleep last night so that means Hitch was probably sleeping in that, how?? Hitch version 4, this is the last point we're Salem remembers that Hitch is an artist. And also the last point he's drawn with his original "punk" clothing style. Hitch used to be punk as well, before Salem switched him to a very poor attempt at Lolita fashion. Also, I really liked the "no whites in his eyes" thing, it made him visually distinct. While he hasn't gotten lighter this is a really big contrast from his fur color originally.
Also note, Hitch has gone from legitimately feisty to bratty as he's gotten lighter.
Oh, and he changed from Jones to Davis.
And finally, Hitch version 4.5-5 (ft. Salem's poorly disguised transfem kink)
What a downfall, huh? I mean, just look at the first image, OG Hitch would have teased Hitomi for that, not be all stuttery. Also, see the character reference sheet on the top left. Where he says "Am I only just cute?", that's...kinda tragic. Because, yeah, that's all he is now, just the cute, fat, trans boyfriend. Again this could be an interesting horror movie/comic. A character who's self aware that they're slowly being flanderized and sexualized but not being able to do anything about it. All while occasionally blipping back into consciousness and having to look into the mirror and seeing how different they are. Also, it looks like Salem is trying to soft launch Hitch back into his punk style, he's not doing a very good job at it. Either that for he's still doing the Lolita thing and also not doing a very good job at it.
Oh, and, notice how every other character chart up until this point had little facts? Like what he likes to do, or a reference to his interests? I mean the one before the most recent one doesn't even mention he likes drawing. "Like going to the mall"? What?? It almost feels like he was bimbofied...
And that's not even mentioning his skin, notice how as he's gotten lighter he's become more passive, kinder? The most recent "reference sheet", he's lighter than ever and has the kindest expression. I want to call a coincidence but this has happened with Salem more than once. Subconsciously or not, the lighter Salem makes his character's the nicer they are.
And with that, this ends our journey through time. Seriously though I think in-universe Hitch got replaced, his last name literally changes. That is not the same guy, but honestly the thought of him actually being the same guy is sadder. Every trace of his original character is practically gone, besides him being a mouse and liking cheese.

IMO there's layers to the wreck of Hitomi and Hitch's relationship, or lackthereof. They exist primarily to be eroticized more than either is romanticized, given so much emphasis is placed on sexual traits Salem finds desirable. The difference between their treatment depends on which one Salem personally projects onto (Hitch), and which he idealizes as a sexual encounter. Hitch is objectified by Hitomi as a pussy because Salem cannot conceive of Hitch as anything more than a bottom, given the ways he associates femininity as receptive/passive/submissive. Contrastingly, Hitomi is objectified by Salem as a top and/or dom, given she is butch and has "masc" traits (a penis). Their designations as prey and predator further reinforce the stereotypes of their dynamic. I recall that Salem has said in a one-off skeet that Hitch tops Hitomi, but the weight of evidence in terms of his artwork and posting is in favour of objectified bottom pussyboy Hitch and comptop trans woman Hitomi. It's all steeped in racism, misogyny and toxic heteronormativity... so about what one would expect of Salem's creative ability.

Personally, I sadly never got to witness pre-wis Hitomi. But I’m 99% sure she was an actual character (or at least half a character having Salem’s questionable character writing skills) before, but when Wis started dating Salem… she just became worse and worse. I’ve heard from some ppl out there that Hitomi was 10 times better b4 Wis, so I’m guessing that’s true.
