annoucements.
hello readers out in the digital world! here's a heads up on the latest: #1: in celebration of a new chapter, i have made a few minor changes (theme, title, and description). warning: url change coming soon as well! #2: i'm blessed to have the friends that i do in my life. by no means am i deserving of their generosity and love. although we are all in different life stages, social circles with vastly differing interests, i'm in awe of our ability to connect and enjoy each other's company. super grateful. #3: fully-energized and ready to get back to work! program officially starts March 3. the anticipation is killing me. looking forward to coming back :)
Web Design Trends for 2013
When you start a new UX project β before you design anything β you need to understand your goals. Two of them, to be specific. Everything you make is based on these two goals and nothing is more important to your success as a UX designer:
User goals and business goals.

Writing, like the other core design skills, is not a step in a waterfall process. It doesnβt belong at the beginning, middle, or end, because itβs something we need to do throughout the design process.

be content with the things that don't make sense. i won't find resolution in answers.
communication.
amongst the slew of things i am working on to improve myself, communication was a big one. i've had bad communication amongst family members, relationships, and some friendships. unfortunately working as a dental assistant, you're constantly trying to convey a message of having good oral health habits and empowering patients to take care of their teeth beyond the office. you want to create a good experience, which means answering a lot of questions and convincing patients of the importance of completing their treatment plan. one thing i feel like i have improved on, is making sure the doctora and patient know what the procedure is, ensuring the doctora is ok before leaving to clean rooms or seat other patients, and making sure the right tools and materials are ready. my doctor does like to change her mind a lot so i do clarify and ask if she needs a specific product. this communication is what allowed our operatory to be successful. i know this is only one aspect i've been able to work on but i am trying to make a conscious effort to communicate my thoughts, feelings, and changes when they do happen. friends, let me know if you see a suggestion for improvement. i'm happy to listen!
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

mission salvage cheesecake: success? we'll find out tomorrow! UPDATE: SUCCESS! the edges look gross (esp since i didn't cut around it properly). the top was slightly brown with cracking on the outer edges so i decided to cover it up with a strawberry glaze and blackberries :).
i realize there is nothing i can do to change the situation. its all in His timing. i must fight to stay faithful and trust in His good Word.
Stockholm Syndrome
We've been blessed with the Sunday messages through P. Eric, P. Danny, and guest Pastors so it was perfect to have P. Aaron come and share about Stockholm Syndrome. Passage: Romans 6:11-13 According to Wiki, Stockholm Syndrome "is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness." Why do we care for those that have bound us? If we are free in Christ, then why do we still struggle with sin? Are we truly free? - The internal conflict we experience is because residual sin remains. Right now we are living between the already (saved) and the not yet (with Christ). By no means are we perfect but how can we fight against this residual sin? 1) Die to sin and alive in Christ a) How do we perceive ourselves? i) We can't think we've given into sin b/c we're going to do it anyways. It shows doubt in our abilities to be obedient. We need to fight like we have overcome sin. In this, we can't trust nor rely on our feelings but of God's promises. We can do this through regular reading of the Word and regular fellowship (without these two, we end up listening to ourselves). 2) Not reign in moral body 3) Present your body as instruments of Righteousness Let's reflect- 1) Look at the ledger of your lives (flaws, vices, etc). 2) Look at God's Word. See that WE ARE FORGIVEN of these. We are given power to be sanctified. 3) Finally tally and look at the sins 4) In conclusion: we are dead to sin and alive in Christ. We must remember this! Romans 3:20-21,"Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Been thankful for my family at PBC. Cherishing the time I have with them and getting to know the ladies better before I start class. PBC is growing and it has been wonderful seeing how You have been working in the church. I forsee lots of changes this past year: new attitudes, more biblical manhood, and growing wisdom. Keep me pointed towards you!

yay-men. agreed to a majority of it. def need to be more encouraging!
"So, we must not simply hold one another to the high relational standards of Godβs Word, but we must also daily offer the same grace that we have been given to one another so that we may be tools of grace in the lives of one another. Our confidence is not in the ability we have to keep Godβs law but rather in the life-giving and heart-transforming grace of the one who has drawn us to himself and has the power to draw us to one another. When we live with this confidence, we look at the difficulties of our relationships not so much as hassles to be endured, but as opportunities to enter into an even deeper experience of the rescuing, transforming, forgiving, empowering grace of Jesus, the one who died for us and is always with us." amen. learning to be selfless.
