Phoenix seems a bit surprised, himself, when he glances up from the stack of documents in his own hands. He’d almost been expecting to be shooed out of Edgeworth’s office, especially considering he came bearing a case file of his own.
“A warm welcome, as always, Edgeworth.” he laughs a bit, face pulling up into a wry smile. “I wanted a second opinion on this case. I suppose it could be pretty quick, depending on how soon it is before you decide to toss me out of the prosecutors office once you hear what it is.”
Phoenix closes the manila folder, offering it to Edgeworth.
“It’s a case of unreasonable search and seizure, that much has been proven, and it would seem they plan on brining evidence to court that has to do with expunged charges. I wanted the eyes of a prosecutor who isn’t on the case to take a look and see if you thought it warranted filing a motion. And since I trust your judgement, you were the first person to come to mind.”
“ isn’t that what im known for around her ? warm welcomes ? “ sarcasm gently peppers his speech, yet it seems to be in all good humor for now.
second opinion ? a sigh, as he reaches his hand out to take the folder easily. despite the other’s teasing, he wasn’t that bothered. rather him get a second opinion with him then to wander off to someone who probably will give him the wrong legal codes.
flipping it open, he readjusts his glasses to scan over a few of the words, before humming quietly.
“ much tamer than some of the cases that we’ve had to deal with, hm ? “ simple conversation talk as he hands the folder back, folding his hands a bit in front of him.
“ i would file the motion. as the charges were removed, then it will not hold water in court. my guess is that they are going to try to bring it up to throw doubt on your defendant’s character to the judge rather than attempting to actually prove something with it. i’d try to locate something that shows that their character has changed from the incident they are trying to bring up. “ a familiar tactic, for sure. if you cannot use it in court, at the very least it sheds light on someone’s behavior.
