if you ever interact with someone who is mentally ill/mad/pathologised or disabled in some way, assume they are trying hard enough. act as if they are trying hard enough. dont even consider it an option that they arent trying hard enough. if they are failing to meet some goal or expectation, it is despite trying hard enough.

nervously bouncing my right foot in my wheelchair is a motor behavior i can do easily. walking is not. obviously they're very different motor patterns, require totally different muscle groups, different brain patterns, different requirements for coordination and balance. it should be easy to understand that some people can be able to nervously bounce one foot and not be able to walk.
posting on tumblr is something completely different from having a job. a job requires a totally different set of social behaviors and executive function and cognitive skills. a job requires a level of energy maintenance that tumblr posting does not. tumblr posting can be done from bed, most jobs cannot. tumblr posting does not have a set daily schedule, jobs do. it should be easy to understand that some people can be able to post on tumblr, and not be able to have a job.

a bunch of random things life has taught me in no particular order:
happy moments should be cherished, not over-thought
people will come and go no matter how long you wait for them or how badly you want them to stay
making new friends opens up whole new worlds
apologies can make all the difference
random acts of kindness can change someoneâs day from bad to bearable
the only person youâre stuck with is you so learn to love, forgive, and accept yourself
sometimes the worst people for us are the ones we think are the best
itâs not selfish to be personally hurt by something and anyone who tells you otherwise probably feels guilty themselves
the world can feel ugly at times, but donât overlook the beautiful things or they may just not be there one day
tell people you love that you love them even if you think itâs implied
donât betray your friends
being yourself takes time since change happens often, so itâs okay to not know who you are at any given time
never give up on your dreams or youâll regret all the things you couldâve done
donât ever lose yourself in the name of love
trust yourself
life has its highs and lows, so be prepared for how low the lows can be
do things spontaneouslyâ just for the fun of it
better to regret than to wonder âwhat ifâ forever
always make sure people know youâre there for them
thereâs never a perfect time, and if you wait too long, you lose your chance
everyone has shit going on in their lives, so be kind to people
always be thankful for the people who have stuck around
donât waste time beating yourself up over things you canât change
if youâre trying to decide between holding on and letting go, itâs probably time to let go

i hope you know that you're doing the best you can, and that's enough. the effort you put into yourself, your life, your healing, that never goes unnoticed. i see you even when you feel overlooked. you are still worthy even when your battles feel too heavy to carry. i see the way you hold things together, even when you feel as if you're doing it all by yourself. when you feel like the world is on your shoulders, i hope you trust that you're never alone. i know it feels like not everyone understands you, what you deal with, or what you go through, but you're much bigger than the challenges you face. you have so much strength within you. i hope you never give up on the life that's meant for you.
