Olivia should have know this would happen, but when Evangeline tugged on a strand of her mamaās ponytail and pointed excitedly at the storefront yelling, āYummydukes! Yummydukes!ā She had no choice but to make an unplanned stop. She sighed, but it was a dreamy kind of sound, smile curling on the edges of her lips as her daughter tried to grab just about everything within reach. Ā āKids, am I right?ā She mused to no one in particular, eyes following the toddler around the shop. It wasnāt that long ago when Livvy was trying to coerce her daughter into taking her first steps. Now she had regrets as she chased her around the candy store. āI think I should just quit my job and work here. I spend galleons on confectioneries anyway and I bet they get a wicked discount.ā Not that she needed it, butā¦

āĀ Ā I for one donāt need any more reasons to stop in.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Heād know that voice anywhereĀ Ā -Ā Ā and it never fails to bring a smile to his face.Ā Ā Laurent turns,Ā Ā in his own hand a bag of sweets that heād claim were for Beaās children,Ā Ā though truth be told they were just as much for him.Ā Ā āĀ Ā And you,Ā Ā little one,Ā Ā will rot your teeth.Ā Ā āĀ Ā His tone changes as he lowers himself to Evangeline's level.Ā Ā A whisper on his lips to match the mischief in her eyes as he taps the small girl gently on the nose,Ā Ā āĀ Ā as many sweets as youād like from uncle Laurie today,Ā Ā go on now and choose,Ā Ā petite fluer.Ā Ā But not too far.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Rising again to turn his attentions towards his friend,Ā Ā he leans in,Ā Ā pressing a kiss to her cheek in greeting.Ā Ā āĀ Ā The uniforms might suit you.Ā Ā ā
Iām not really a roses kind of girl.

The night has been quiet.Ā Ā Gripped with a sort of restlessness,Ā Ā heās contemplating putting down the book that heās been occupying himself with just as the familiar pop of apparation suggests that his sister has returned home.Ā Ā Laurent hadnāt even realized there was worry sitting in his chest until it unclenched,Ā Ā relief replacing it.Ā Ā Though there was always some semblance of worry for CelesteĀ Ā (Ā Ā she had a wild heart,Ā Ā he knew that wellĀ Ā )Ā Ā now in the midst of a war,Ā Ā it could be magnified.
Eyes flick to the clock,Ā Ā realizing for the first time just how late it is,Ā Ā and then back to her as she enters.Ā Ā He quirks a brow,Ā Ā words uttered with a smile.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Get lost on the way home?Ā Ā ā

Gideon hadnāt planned on going out that night. But everyone he normally called on for company was busy, and honestly he was just bored. Going out felt a little different recently. On one hand, he was certain he would be going home alone tonight, something he wasnāt very certain of at all most times. On the other hand, this was also one of the first times he was more than okay with that.Ā
Being in a relationship wasnāt going to change how much Gideon liked to be social though, which is why he found himself at The Leaky Cauldron, chatting up the person behind the bar and telling them the latest thing the twins had put poor Molly and Arthur through. He took a sip of his drink and for the first time since he got to the bar, he let himself look at who was sitting a few people over from him. He could tell by the way he averted his eyes that it wasnāt the first time Laurent Delacour had noticed Gideon.
He pondered for a moment if he would even go over there. It felt rude not to, but then again Gideon wouldnāt necessarily call his actions towards the entire Delacour family - spearheaded by his feelings towards Jean-Luc - polite.Ā
Gideon picked up his glass and walked to the end of the bar.Ā āWere you planning on coming over to say hello or were you just going to hope I wouldnāt notice you?ā
laurent.
āĀ Ā I was planning on enjoying my drink,Ā Ā āĀ Ā he replies amiably,Ā Ā gaze rising up to meet the man whoād just made his way over.Ā Ā He had noticed Gideon there,Ā Ā but figured there was no rush to make a moveĀ Ā -Ā Ā the night was young and he was here to enjoy himself.Ā Ā And if Gideon didnāt approach,Ā Ā chances are someone else would soon enoughĀ Ā -Ā Ā that wasnāt arrogance,Ā Ā simply a fact heād grown used to after his years familiarizing himself with the nightlife of England.
āĀ Ā That could include your company,Ā Ā if youāre offering it.Ā Ā So long as you arenāt enlisting me in your longstanding battle with my brother.Ā Ā āĀ Ā They were familiar with each other in more than one wayĀ Ā -Ā Ā and though there is a truth to Laurentās toneĀ Ā (Ā Ā a truth that anyone with eyes could see,Ā Ā franklyĀ Ā )Ā Ā -Ā Ā there is humor as well.Ā Ā Jean-luc was far from bothered,Ā Ā and Laurie was even further removed from that dynamic.Ā Ā āĀ Ā If you finish the one youāve been nursing,Ā Ā perhaps I could be persuaded to buy you another.Ā Ā ā

He was nothing if not a man of many talents.Ā Ā Or at least,Ā Ā a man of many passions.Ā Ā One of them had,Ā Ā briefly,Ā Ā been cookingĀ Ā -Ā Ā though he proved to have a knack for it in his short tutelage.Ā Ā He found that cooking was particularly enjoyable when done with people he loved.Ā Ā And so it was here with his older brother,Ā Ā amid laughter and music and slightly too much wine,Ā Ā that Laurent was happiest.Ā Ā
āĀ Ā You've improved,Ā Ā āĀ Ā he teases as he once again fills the glasses that have been depleted.Ā Ā Staring down at his brotherās handiwork,Ā Ā he allows an easy smile.Ā Ā āĀ Ā The girls will be impressed.Ā Ā As long as we donāt let it burn.Ā Ā ā

Orion adored the Delacours; all for different reasons. He might have been closer to the twins because they were closer in age but he definitely saw something of himself in Laurent; in the way he always seemed to be searching for more. He attended the games when he could both because he loved to see Laurent play and because he had just always loved Quidditch. āGood game,ā he grinned when they finally caught up with each other after it was over. āNeedless to say after that drinks are on you.ā
laurent.
He would never tire of the weightless feeling.Ā Ā Though the game may not have held his heart in the way it once did,Ā Ā it was still rewarding to be a part of it.Ā Ā He and Angel had always been a teamĀ Ā -Ā Ā it felt right.Ā Ā Still riding the high,Ā Ā even after he is changed back into his regular attire,Ā Ā Laurie is not surprised to happen upon Orion in the dwindling crowd.Ā Ā This was something of a tradition.Ā Ā āĀ Ā If it isnāt my biggest supporter!Ā Ā āĀ Ā His smile happens without conscious thought.Ā Ā As he claps a hand on Orionās shoulder in greeting,Ā Ā Laurie chides,Ā Ā āĀ Ā oh no no,Ā Ā you may have had to see me home the last time but I havenāt forgotten.Ā Ā Drinks are decidedly on you.Ā Ā ā
OPEN STARTER
āYou there! - Oh, donāt be shy, I can tell youāre just dying to talk to the Gilderoy Lockhart!ā A roguish grin swept across his face as he pulled out the chair adjacent to the one he was perched in; he gestured warmly to it. āNo doubt, youāre a fan. No, no - Iām not a seer, but I do have a particular affinity for understanding the human mind, and you, dear friend, are aching for an autograph.ā The words were arrogant, yet somehow charming - admittedly far too loud for the peacefulness of the pub, and although he wasnāt yet drunk, he was overly intoxicated by himself.
laurent.
Heād heard of Gilderoy Lockhart of courseĀ Ā -Ā Ā it would be impossible not to,Ā Ā given the way he plastered his name across every surfact.Ā Ā Seeing him in person though was...Ā Ā an experience.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Laurent Delacour,Ā Ā āĀ Ā he offers amiably,Ā Ā taking a seat next to the wizard.Ā Ā His over the top personality didnāt annoy Laurent,Ā Ā rather he was a source of bewilderment.Ā Ā A novelty of sorts.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Youāll have to excuse me,Ā Ā āĀ Ā he adds quietly,Ā Ā so as not to embarrassĀ himĀ Ā (Ā Ā though Laurie thought perhaps Gilderoy did an alright job of that himself.Ā Ā )Ā Ā āĀ Ā Iām afraid I havenāt read your work.Ā Ā ā

who: @delucour
The shop was bustling today as students from Hogwarts started to return back to their homes for the summer. A part of her always felt just a little jealous at their happy faces, but it was a delight to hear the stories. There were always Ravenclaws, and a few other housemates, who spent many a day in Flourish & Blotts, trying to get their hands on any new literature Thea had bought. These days, sheād been trying to find more Muggle stories, because even though the war brewing outside their doors would say otherwise, Thea thought they were important to read. Now, though, a familiar face stepped through the door, and Thea couldnāt help but grin. āWell look who it is,ā she said, leaning against the bookshelf beside Laurent. She was trying to be cool but she was certain it never work out well for her. āHavenāt seen your face around in a while. Can I help ya look for something, Laurie?ā
laurent.
He paid frequent visits to Flourish & Blotts.Ā Ā Whether that was because it happened to employ his favorite shop clerk,Ā Ā or because he really was a lover of good books remained to be seen.Ā Ā On this particular day it was a mix of the two,Ā Ā as he finds himself seeking out the shop without even really meaning to.Ā Ā āĀ Ā You look very comfortable.Ā Ā āĀ Ā The smile is present on his features even before he enters,Ā Ā though it grows as he approaches.Ā Ā āĀ Ā My sincerest apologies my love,Ā Ā āĀ Ā arms are wide in greeting,Ā Ā tone heavy with playful flirtation as he moves to lean in to place a kiss on her cheek.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Today...Ā Ā āĀ Ā he muses thoughtfully,Ā Ā āĀ Ā Iām searching only for good company.Ā Ā Though I did recently finish reading your last recommendation.Ā Ā āĀ Ā
alastors.
āāāā open starter ; the leaky cauldron.
ā thereās a scottish superstition āā ā there wasnāt, but he was scottish and it was his own superstition, so the logic wrote itself,Ā ā āā that drinking whisky aloneās bad luck. ā alastor rarely drank anything that didnāt come from his own flask, especially after the last two times heād been almost-poisoned. he didnāt even trust his own motherās liquor cabinet anymore, it was far too close to her potions cabinet. but the leaky cauldron was neutral territory and the auror was in need of a few fingers of whisky too many.Ā ā care to join? ā
laurent.
āĀ Ā There is a French superstition,Ā Ā āĀ Ā he counters,Ā Ā intrigued to have been addressed by the other.Ā Ā Thereās a certain good humor to Laurentās tone that translates over his thickly accented English,Ā Ā āĀ Ā that if you break eye contact during a toast,Ā Ā you will suffer for seven years in the bedroom.Ā Ā āĀ Ā He shrugs down at his own half-empty glass,Ā Ā never one to say no to a drink.Ā Ā āĀ Ā But then,Ā Ā I have never been one for superstition.Ā Ā Still,Ā Ā it is better to be safe than sorry,Ā Ā āĀ Ā As if in a gesture of good faith to the superstitious stranger,Ā Ā he doesn't break eye contact as he raises the glass up in make-shift toast.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Pour votre santĆ©.Ā Ā āĀ Ā To your health.

beatriceā.
It was a talent, really, how Beatrice could trip over her own feet, while walking in a straight line, on a smooth surface with no obstacles in her way. It was one of her finer skills. She really thought she was going to face plant that time. Time moved in slow motion. This was the end. She was sure of it⦠but she caught herself at the last possible second, stumbling to a halt. And it was only then that she realized that someone was lucky enough to witness the whole spectacle. Awesome. Turning slowly, she flashed a quick, nervous smile.Ā āMerdi, You didnāt see that, right?ā
laurent.
A lover of all things beautiful, Ā the younger Delacour has always preferred his native tongue to English,Ā Ā and so he canāt be blamed for slipping into it in greeting.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Clumsy little duck.Ā Ā āĀ Ā The words roll off his tongue,Ā Ā the term of endearment uttered like a secret between siblings as he moves towards her.Ā Ā Linking arms,Ā Ā Laurent all but propels her along,Ā Ā towards...Ā Ā somewhere that is away from all the looks of concern.Ā Ā āĀ Ā Me and several others,Ā Ā āĀ Ā he replies honestly,Ā Ā flashing a charming smile and a wave of dismissal at a bystander.Ā Ā āĀ Ā I blame the floor,Ā Ā of course.Ā Ā There was a slant.Ā Ā Ā āĀ Ā It's pure luck that he runs into her so quickly on this particular afternoon,Ā Ā spared from searching about the Ministry to invite his sister to lunch.

I spotted LAURENT HENRI ARMOND DELACOUR in Diagon Alley early today. Have you heard the rumors? Supposedly the QUARTER VEELA is affiliated with NO ONE. Born on SEPTEMBERĀ / 15thĀ / 1956, they are TWENTY SIXĀ and identify as MALE ( he/him ) and BISEXUAL. They are A BEATER FOR THE MONTROSE MAGPIES; it makes sense, given they are CAREFREEĀ & CONSIDERATE but also OUT OF TOUCH & PROTECTIVE. When I think of them, I think ofĀ love for many things, but family above all else, forging a path for yourself but not realizing thereād be so many detours along the way, and a heart that is always in the right place.
Faceclaim: Berker Güven
Born into the upper echelon of French society, your familyās wealth ensured that you would want for nothing. Though you were raised properly, taught the ways and norms of your world, you could not be less similar to your peers across the channel. You would know love. In fact, you would be raised on it. The Delacour family has never been wrapped up in someone elseās grand war, and you yourself are not as readily concerned with politics and gaining status. As a result, yours was a happy childhood, if a bit removed from the goings on in the greater world. The third child and second son to Ćmeraude and Jean-Marcel Delacour, while your future held undeniable promise it was very much still a blank canvas, yours to fill. You were never one of any single calling. But as the second son to the family you werenāt expected to be anything but yourself, either. Always reassured that you could be whatever you chose, you certainly had ample time to make a selection. And before you settled on anything at all, you would be sure to dabble in just about everything.
You loved your older siblings with all of your heart, and much of your young life was spent hoping to make them proud. But imitating Jean-Luc never felt quite right, and trying to follow Beaās lead was a valiant effort, if ill-begotten in nature. While their summers home were filled with laughter and light, when the school year rolled back around as it invariably would, you found yourself feeling exceedingly lonely. You would be left with no one to keep you company but the countryside - and maman and papa, and the nannies of course - but it was never quite the same. You longed for the connection that you had seen in your older siblings. And when Angelique was born, you knew youād gotten it. The very first time you held your baby sister in your arms, you promised her that youād never leave her side. It was a lofty promise for a boy of only four, not yet seeing the prospective future ahead. And it is true that you left her side for a time, when you went off to Beauxbatons without her. But you have spent much of your life making up for it.
Jean-luc and Beatrice might have been the twins of the family, but it was not for lack of trying on Angelās part. The pair of you did everything together. You spent much of your young life unemployed, save for the fleeting positions that your status and education afforded you. They all caught your attention for a time, fleeting passions, but in most cases you moved on just as quickly as you started. Your relationships were much the same. Earning the reputation as something of a well known bachelor among your social circles, you had no interest in settling down. It was simply understood by your family that you sought experience - and their understanding was all you ever sought, in any case. You were a man of whim and passion, and saw no reason to suffer when there was so much joy in the world. It wasnāt exactly your intention to be drafted to a professional quidditch league when you joined your little sister at try outs. But you had played in school and trained for years, and if that was where life took you, who were you to say no? it felt right. You followed through and the pair of you have been a package deal ever since.
When Jean-luc and Beatrice decided to make the move, it was a foolās errand to believe either you or Angel would stay away for long. You would miss your home, but it never held quite the same appeal without your siblings there... So you and Angel packed up your bags as well, following them to the next great adventure. These days, you balance your Quidditch career and your growing interest in philanthropic work. Though you are decidedly more settled than you were in your youth, you have begun to feel the telltale signs of unrest stirring in your gut again, wondering just where it might lead you next.
