Don’t waste more time on the bad guys, I didn’t think you were a bad guy

You was warned by friends, family, exes and the drivers to not date him, you deserved better and they wanted better from you. You deserved to be happy. You thought Lando would make you happy. He did for a long period of time, until it started to fizzle out. It killed you to see it fizzle out but with the rumours you heard, the messages you was getting on a daily basis you started to doubt everything you do and did for him. From the late nights when he wouldn’t come home till gone 3am for unknown reasons, to the missed dinner dates and anniversary. You knew you had to leave but you couldn’t, wanted to prove yourself wrong. You wanted to prove that he wasn’t just another bad guy but you couldn’t. It was fighting a losing battle for you and him.

Even you forget which parts are true, that’s the problem with liars like you

Things improved slowly but then took a dark turn when he started drinking heavily, physically and mentally abuse you got when he would have one too many. You knew he didn’t mean the things what he said, or when he would hit you. It all started after a bad race, you couldn’t make it so he went out with his family after for a few drinks. A few drinks ended up turning into £500 worth of drinks. You wanted to stay up and wait for him but your eyes was heavy and you had work in the morning so you decided to call it a night. You woke up at your normal time 8am so you could be in work before 10:30am, little did you know Lando was in the kitchen making himself a coffee you greeted him with a good morning, next you knew you was on the floor holding your face “what was that for?” “I wanted you to wait up for me and you didn’t” he shouted “really Lando?! Really. I’m so disappointed in you” you slowly got up from the kitchen floor before he kicked you back down. This time he really hurt you, you thought he’d help you up instead he just walked over you. You kept telling yourself that he didn’t mean it, you should’ve waited up for him. If you waited, none of this would’ve happened.

Weeks have passed, you have fresh bruises on your arms and a black eye. You couldn’t keep it covered. It was race weekend, you had to go since you’ve missed so many due to Lando’s actions towards you. You attempted to keep sunglasses on to keep your eye covered which worked, until you went to the toilets and one of the McLaren workers saw you and asked what’s happened, that’s when you knew you had to speak out. You couldn’t keep everything hidden anymore. You didn’t do it to give him a bad name, you did it so people knew what he was really like. He lied constantly to everyone who asked him after and swore on his life that he never hit you. He later knew that he messed up when he confessed to a driver what he really did, then instantly changed it to saying that you walked into a door and that how you got the bruises and black eye. He told people different things, he couldn’t get his own story straight.

And the worst part is how much I miss you, hate myself cause I want to forgive you

You finally grew enough confidence to leave him, and that’s what you did. You left him without any warnings. You couldn’t keep it up anymore. You packed most your stuff and took it to work with, you had enough savings to book yourself into a hotel for a few weeks until you got yourself all sorted.

One night you was lying in bed, your thoughts was everywhere. You knew that you shouldn’t message him, but you wanted too. You wanted answers on why he did what he did to you, it was lovely to start with. You just don’t know where it went wrong. You wanted to married this man, you wanted everything with Lando but he gave you the opposite to that.

Being best friends with Kepa had its pros and cons, and today you was about to get the biggest cons on them all. He was going on loan to Real Madrid until June. You and Kepa did everything together, where you was he wasn’t far behind you, vice versa. You was over the moon for him since you was hoping he’d improve on his skills, but it felt like you was missing something. You found over like everyone else from social media, you was supposed to be seeing him later that night but you didn’t want to face him, not because you didn’t want to face him, more of the fact if you saw him now then it would hurt even more.

The worst that you could think of was him leaving for good, you told yourself over and over that it was just a loan and nothing else. You decided to lay on the sofa with a blanket with the TV on in the background to cut out the silence. Your phone went off constantly and you wanted to talk to him but you fighter against it and ignored it, praying that he’d get the hint. All you wanted to do was sleep and block everything out.

“Ben man she isn’t answering, I need to talk to her” “have you told her how you feel about her yet?” “No but-” “why Kepa why? You’re now going on loan, you’re not just leaving us behind but you’ll end up leaving her behind too. You need to tell her. You have access to her place still right?” “I know ben, I know. I’m scared to tell her if anything. You know how long we’ve been friends, I can’t ruin it for her, for us. I do why?” “Go round there, talk to her, cook her dinner and explain everything to her”. I had to tell her how I really feel about her before I lose her for good. I know for a fact when I do come back to Chelsea that I’ll have her still there supporting me but I need to do something about it. I got in my car after trying to call her again and there still wasn’t any answer, I went straight to the supermarket to get some ingredients to cook for her tonight and give her some flowers. I knew flowers wasn’t going to make up for it but it’s the thought that counts.

I wake up to the sound of someone’s keys turning in my door, the only person that’s got access to my flat is Kepa, and surely he wouldn’t be here? Wrong. He came through the door with bags of food and the biggest bouquet of flowers that you’ve ever seen. “Kep, what are you doing here?” “I’m here because I needed to talk to you, you’ve ignored all my calls. We need to talk” “what is there to talk about? You couldn’t even tell me that you was going on loan to a whole new country?! I had to find out like everyone else on social media? I thought we didn’t keep secrets from each other?” “We don’t, that’s why I’m here for. You don’t realise how hard it was to not tell you, let me explain over dinner? Please?” “Fine whatever Kepa” “please don’t be mad at me. I’m sorry, I love you and I want you to come with me” you couldn’t believe what he’s just said to you, yes you had feelings for him, but you did everything you could to try to hide it. “Mad at you? I’m not mad at you, I’m more annoyed at you. Were supposed to be best friends Kepa?” “We are friends, you know that we are. Please just come with me. Please I need you. I leave in a months’ time, please I’m begging”  “just go Kepa please, just leave me” and with that, he went. No trying to argue with you, nothing.

Having a day off with Kepa your boyfriend was rare, but when it came around it was one of your favourite weekends. Just being able to relax and not having to do anything too stressful. It was predicted that it was going to be a rainy day, so you opted for a movie night together. Something that you both haven’t done in ages. It was 9:30am and Kepa was still asleep next to you, you gradually got out of bed to get ready in your leggings and oversized hoodie so you could go to the supermarket and get all the supplies that you needed for the movie and pamper night. You stopped off to grab some breakfast for you both hoping that when you was back that he would be awake waiting for you. When you arrived home you could smell the fresh toast, eggs and bacon being cooked by Kepa. “Good morning my love, I’ve made us breakfast” “I’ve got some bits for our movie night tonight, I thought it would be nice. Just to have some time with you for a change. Got some pamper things, coffee and some fruit for breakfast” “Movie and pamper night with you is my favourite relaxation” “I know” you put everything in the fridge/cupboard so you knew where it was for tonight.

Hours have passed, you’ve been getting everything ready and relaxed when you can since you’ve had a busy week at work. Kepa got the whole of the cinema room ready for you both, the cinema room rarely got used but when it did, it holds memories for you both. “Babe, I’ve almost finished are you ready?” “I’m ready princess” you brought everything into the room and he had the whole room ready with fairy lights, cushions, beanbags and blankets ready for you both. You placed everything on floor for you both to reach, he followed you in with some wine and glasses. You picked the first couple of films and he picked the others for you both to watch. Both of you loved times like this, just being able to spent time together, alone, no stress, no worries just pure happiness.

You noticed that Kepa got himself comfortable on your lap, you couldn’t help but to run your nails up and down his back which would mean before you knew it he’d be asleep in your lap. You started tracing patterns on the back of his head, his breathing got more relaxed than before. “I love you my darling” “I love you too” and with that he was asleep. Did you mind? No. Did you care? No. Did you love him? More than he could ever imagine.

Masons been debating to change his hair colour for months, he wanted to go blonde, you wanted him to stay darker since dark hair was one of your weaknesses. You’ve always seen him with dark hair, so maybe seeing him going blonde would maybe break you a little. “I have an appointment tomorrow… are you coming?” “What sort of appointment? Where is it?” “It’s at the hair dressers…” “If you’re going blonde, I don’t want to see it” “why? Please come with me, I promise it will look nice, then if you really hate it I’ll change it back to dark for you” “blonde won’t even look good on you, I might come. I’ll see Mase” “what other plans do you have for tomorrow instead of staying in the house?” “I might already have plans… what time is it?” “I’m booked in for 1:30”. You didn’t have any plans but you just didn’t want to see him go blonde. The following day came round quicker before you knew, he was up early doing a morning workout and you was getting ready do to some shopping with a few of the girls. “I’m going now, hopefully see you soon. i love you” “we’ll see Mase… i love you too” you wasn’t upset that he was going blonde, but it was going to break you more than you’d thought. Once Mason left you headed out with the girls, quick shopping trip before you and Mase go on holiday next week. You made you way to where he was after you dropped off one of your friends.

“Well… what do you think? It’s not too bright is it?” “I love it, it’s not the bright blonde that I had in mind. Its perfect Mase” “you do?” “yeah, I find it pretty hot” “if I knew you was going to be like this, I would’ve done it sooner” “it’s a favourite, shame you didn’t do it when you had it longer though” “lemme grow it out and you can have it anyway how you want too” he said whilst giving you a quick kiss on the lips. “What do you want for dinner? We can pick something up” “Chinese? We haven’t had that in a while?” 

You drove to the Chinese which was roughly 25 minutes away from where you lived, thankfully Mase had called the order through so you didn’t have to wait around ages for it. “Maybe we can have a chilled night tonight after the Chinese? Maybe you can do your skin care on me or something?” “of course we can Mase” soon as you got home, you plated up the food whilst Mase got the living room ready with blankets, pillows and of course fairy lights. “what’s on your mind Mase?” you said whilst running your hands through his hair, it was something you did when you was friends and it helped him relax so much quicker “nothing, just worried you know” he had his hand tracing the tattoo that you had on your thigh, Mase rarely does something like this, but you could tell he was worried about something “about what?” “What if the fans don’t like the new look? The deadline for the transfers, nobody is safe. It’s all just piling up” “who cares if the fans don’t like it, your girlfriend loves it.
