Delicious ambiguity

Cleva - Erykah Badu

Force Majeure intensely captures the unravelling of a family unit after an act of God interrupts their holiday at a luxury resort in the Swiss Alps. Directed by Ruben Östlund, the cinematography utilises symmetry, block colouring and bright landscapes to create a fresh and ordered atmosphere that is in contention with the characters chaotic mental states. 

Tomas (Johannes Bah Kuhnke*) grated on me, but only in the sense that this character was portrayed so well as an oblivious and selfish husband who is unwilling to analyse his own relationship with his family.  However, I felt that Ebba (Lisa Loven Kongsli) was the stronger of the two as she doesn’t allow the other characters to question what she feels is right.
