The anti-myth literalism narrative is quickly spiraling into disregarding the myths entirely. Myths serve as the very foundation for 99.9% of myths - explain why Zeus is the King without mentioning the Titanomachy. Explain why Hermes and Apollo are associated with hawks - or why Hestia is a virgin goddess, or why Dionysus is associated with madness. Can you? Without a single reference to a myth? Myths are not reflections of the Gods, but a God with no myth gets forgotten. Please do not forget our gods.
The siren in Epic didn’t repeatedly say “I will take the suffering from you” Odysseus is just shit at reading lips
Hey there, I know we're complete strangers, but I am a new devotee to Lord Ares and I'm wanting to hear other people's experiences with Him! I understand not responding to this because, again, we are complete strangers, but I still want to reach out to other devotees that have been worshipping him longer than I have.
Hi! Sorry it took so long to me to respond. So for me, Ares always had a warmer presence to me; almost like a safe warmth. In my experience it wasn’t a very clear feeling until a few months into being a devotee. I offer him red wine on his altar if you want to go that route but if you don’t, that’s okay too. A lot of acts I devote to him are working out, practicing leadership, and standing up for myself and others. Over all in my experience, if you’re respectful then he’s pretty easy to get in touch with. If you have more questions, you can use the DMs :) @lycanloc
Unpopular opinion: as a hellenic polytheism, I don’t mind things like Percy Jackson or other Greek Gods based arts or pieces.
Now, this doesn’t mean that my/our religion should be treated like a fandom because it’s not but from my perspective people apart of the community have consistently said that the myths themselves don’t define or make of a god or goddess, meaning they are much more than any mortal could write about them. In this respect, the Greeks themselves have written plays, stories, and made art for the gods. That doesn’t mean their truth but they are drawing inspiration instead. Percy Jackson may not be accurate in the way we see it but it’s an interpretation, a type of art and in that respect it’s a great book series. I, myself, have rewritten the myth of Apollo and Icarus as a love story. To take away from this, I think modern art of the gods is a beautiful thing and there will always be something that’s not completely accurate to the gods themselves and to an extent, that should be accepted as long as it’s not offensive or berating of the gods.

⚔️ARES EDIT⚔️
before you ask "are the gods mad at me?" THINK:
have you...
1. killed or maimed someone
2. killed or maimed an animal for purposes other than consuming/processing it
3. knowingly and purposefully hurled vile obscenities or insults at any god or gods
4. made it a life goal to be a terrible person
5. been a terf
IF YOU SAID NO TO ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS then girl you're fine go have a dr. pepper
Putting the ring I dedicated to Ares on my middle finger so when I flip someone off they feel an extra burst of hate.
Even better, I have my prayer beads for Ares on the wrist of that hand so it charges the energy of Ares then the ring on my middle finger is the send off like a loaded attack for the haters.
Lord Dionysus of androgyny, I pray to you to protect my trans siblings and give them hope in these trying times. Dionysus Maenoles, enraged by how his people are treated, I ask you to liberate those who feel trapped and lost. Unloved in their own homes by their own kin. Dionysus Saotes, I praise you, and thank you for all you've done. Almighty liberator of the grape vine, wonderful protector, please guide us.
I love Lord Apollon <3
That’s it, that’s the post.
I love him too ☺️

the blood that pours from your scars don’t go unnoticed, my kin, for the Great Ares watches over us and I can feel His rage every time we suffer. Don’t be scared of Him, for He is not an enemy, He is a fierce protector. And when He sees it fit, His judgment will fall upon those who wrongfully mistook us for an easy prey.
Hold tightly to the shield, my friend, and He will be your sword.
In regards of the Trump government scraping all trans inclusion in its queer information portion of its websites I have made this thing. Spread the word. Don't let them pretend we never existed.
P.S: Don't like! Reblog! <3

Wanted to do a small dedication to one of my patrons deities (will do one for Lord Hermes soon, I just have worshipped and worked with Lord Arês longer and wanted to give him a proper digital prayer). As felt bad cause I haven’t prayed a lot as of late (planning to give a coffee offering tomorrow at least.
May the Gods be with you, all the love 🫶
Lord Ares give me the strength to be even meaner to people deserving of it
As someone who follows Ares closely in a worship way, I’ve come to learn that don’t need to have the same personality traits of him. For starters, I’ve never wanted to join the army or something that requires fighting, I worried that it would put a strain on my worship with Ares. Once I let go of the fear it would be unhappy or not want to work with because of that, I found my voice through him. As I’ve gotten more comfortable and embraced him in my life, I learned to use my voice and speak out against unjust and find ways to lead people in leadership opportunities.
If there’s something that I’ve learned about following the Greek gods, it’s that they’ll still accept you if you don’t line up with them 100%. It isn’t always about embracing them but embracing yourself to and let them let you find your strengths. 💕

i was born in the wrong generation, i should be singing hymns to the gods in their temples rn
I always imagined Ares (Greek god of war) to be incredibly graceful since he was taught to dance before he was taught to fight. When I think of him I think of a mix of gracefulness and deadliness, much like a spearmen. Maybe that’s why Aphrodite was drawn to him, he had a mix beauty amongst the blood shed and she could relate.
