Nobody told me that flying a kite is kind of hard….i thought it was going to be relaxing. Fun though regardless.

Pride and Prejudice is sooo good. Canceling myself for misogyny for taking this long to read it.

I acknowledge that I’m lucky to be local and have a friend group from college, but aside from that I’ve been able to make friends throughout my time living in seattle just chatting with people at bars, concerts, online, etc and persistently following up. If you try talking to a stranger and they brush you off, that’s just not your problem.

People online complaining about the Seattle freeze are usually people who have transplanted to a new city (one where they didn’t know anybody) for the first time and are struggling to do the extroverted behaviors that are needed to make friends in that kind of situation. I’m sympathetic to that, it’s hard to put yourself out there especially if you’re introverted and you don’t like bars, events, concerts, or if you have more solitary hobbies. But I think blaming the city is misplaced. It’s a numbers game and you have to just repeatedly talk to people and ask if they want to do something with you.
