Things the end of the circus show have me thinking about
People took "there doesn't always have to be an answer" type statements about critically consuming media so seriously that they don't like it when a piece of media does have an answer.
Media has been poisoned by the normalization of theory bait that is specifically crafted to be meaningless and the people who gorge themselves on it have forgotten how to be told a story. (basically a rewording of the previous thought)
A lot of people should really chill out and either write fanfic or write their own goddamn story instead of insisting someone else's pre-planned story retroactively cater to their whims.
Too many people can't handle it when their faves aren't perfect mirrors of how they perceive themselves. (Actually I knew and was annoyed by this already with how much fanfic tries to do 'character exploration' by slapping on 20 labels the author has lovingly cultivated for themselves, but utterly fails because it guts the character and replaces their entire personality with that of the author. Even worse when they sincerely claim it's canon. I would actually respect an honest self-insert infinitely more than this drivel. This rant has not been about circus fanfic, I have had 0 desire to read circus fanfic.)
