Those lines, to the right of Moses there. I see them a lot in pencil tests and my theory is that those are timing charts, but I don’t know how they’re being used here (or if they are timing charts).
Yep, you’ve got it. Those lines and numbers are the timing charts that break up the animation beats for the two figures. They’re divided based on the distribution of action between key frames and in-betweens - how long each gesture takes, basically, and where emphasis is set.
Here’s a good basic explanation of the principles and functions. It’ll do a better job of summarizing things in a visual manner than I could in a written manner:
