You know that he has some questions to ask that he is, currently, not asking. The expression on his face says everything that doesnât actually come out of his mouth.. without actually having it come out of his mouth. Or something like that. He looked doubtful, is what youâre trying to get at. Maybe confused? It was hard to tell.Â
It is pretty dark out, after all.
His question makes you hesitate for a second; mostly at the fact he just suggested that sunglasses could enhance your vision. Well, those did exist, last youâd heard but in this situation it was just a littleâ whatever, never mind. You could address that later. Or make fun of him for it. Youâd figure it out eventually.
âFashion statement,â a good one, at that, but you keep that bit to yourself for now. And his next question makes your eyes slide down to the sword in your hand, irritably reminded of the fact your katana has been replaced by this shitty.. thing.Â
You almost snort. âNo. I had a katana, a (really) good one the last I remember. I show up here ân I get this. A shitty deal, really.âÂ
Whatever kind of fashion statement he's trying to make, Rin doesn't really understand it. Though he does have to admit that he looks at least kind of cool with those ridiculous shades, so he can't really argue against it. And he nods, thinking to himself on what to say next. This guy really isn't leaving much room for good conversation like most do. But he's dealt with worse, seriously...some people just walk away, it's good that he'd even given him the time of day to answer any stupid questions he wanted to ask.
And then his attention goes to the sword at his side, explaining that he had a better one but it had been replaced upon coming here. â Oh, I know the feelin'. â It's relatable, seeing as he had only just recently gotten his own sword back. â It really sucks how they take stuff away from us n'shit and then we have to earn it back. â
Then it dawns on Rin that this guy must be new here or at least somewhat. Maybe it'd be a good idea to show him around if he doesn't know where he's going. â Uh anyway...y'need some help gettin' t'anywhere? I can lend a hand if y'need it. â It's only an offer, something he doesn't have to feel obligated to accept.
â No pressure of anythin'. â
@deduxi
âRin⌠whyâd you call me out here so late? It sounded important.âÂ
â 'Cuz I wanted t'show ya somethin'! Thanks for comin' out so late and on short notice. â
â Oh hell no. â Thatâs all he has to say about her being here.
Just thought Iâd pop in to say Iâm completely fine with being IMâd for plotting purposes of if youâd just like to ask me for a casual thread. Itâs also completely fine to stop by and chat at any time! That goes for all of my blogs Allen, Ayato, Marinette, Sabo, Rin Tohsaka & Rin Okumura! Iâll be slowly reblogging this post onto each of them just to let people know! And since I know this post will be buried eventually, Iâll be sure to add that IMs are fine in my guidelines page as well when I get the chance!

if youâd like a small starter feel free to like this post! i think itâs safe to assume theyâll only be sentences, but theyâll probably grow in length after some time knowing me. or if you had something specific in mind, by all means feel free to message or IM me.
Now, you yourself arenât too pleased with the sword-switcharoo either, but you just supposed youâll have to make due with what youâve been given. You guess it could be worse, somehow, but you donât dwell on that too long because knowing your luck, youâll jynx yourself. Or break this shitty excuse for a sword. Something like that.
Besides, you have something vaguely more pressing to take care of. Youâre getting that familiar sensation of being stared atâ not inconspicuously, at that. Was this guy just intent on outright boring holes into you with his eyes, or..
Oh, he said something.
âIf I couldnât, Iâd probably be a little less inclined to wear them,â you reply easily, shoulders shrugging at his words, âMy eyesight is considerably better than most peopleâs.â A good observation though, pal. They are, in fact, sunglasses.Â
So his eyesight is better than most people's...yet there he was wearing a pair of glasses. It's pretty dark, too...so that makes it all the more strange. Who even wears sunglasses in the dark? They're usually supposed to shield from the sun or something like that. At least that's what Rin had always figured anyway. Wearing them for fashion was just a little bit obnoxious, though he had to admit this guy did look pretty cool. Pointed shades aside, he still can't help but look at that cheap anime sword he has at his side.
â Right..so, â He's not entirely sure what to respond with. This was a bad way to start a conversation to someone who might be cool. â If yer eyes are better than most people's why're ya wearin' 'em? Fashion statement or somethin'? âÂ
â And...what's with the cheap anime sword? You a cosplayer or somethinâ? â Because he doesnât exactly look to be of asian descent or anything like that.
â â- âNothing had âpissed in my cerealâ, but now that youâve opened your mouth I suppose the answer is: you. Age matters because children donât generally earn an income, you dolt. It makes sense for them to take advantage of something like this. All adults participating does is take away both the product available and the spirit of the holiday.â
â Wrong. Yer never too old t'get into the spirit of Halloween. If anyone's takin' away from the spirit of the holiday, it's your prissy ass who's tryin' to tell people what they can and can't do. Has anybody complained about adult's participating? No? Shut the fuck up then. â
â â- âTrick or treating? Really? Why not just go to a store and buy the candy? Itâs probably cheaper than buying a costume and less expensive. Seriously, some of you are adults. Act like it.â
â And why does it matter to you whether or not people wanna go trick or treatin'? Why does their age matter? Seriously, who pissed in yer cereal this morning? â
Now he's used to seeing people carry around wooden swords, those are pretty common around these parts. And then when they've earned up enough, they usually switch to real swords. That's usually how it is. Or at least...that's how it should be.
But this...this is pretty surprising. Not only does this guy not have a wooden sword--it's a sorry excuse for a sword actually--he has a cheap looking sword that looks like it came straight from an anime. That's...well, that's unfortunate. Not to mention those shades he has on. Seriously, it's not even sunny out enough to wear those. â Can y'even see out of those things? â He asks, not even realizing that he'd just spoken his thoughts aloud. Oh well..may as well roll with it.
     â I mean--it's kinda dark n'all. And those look like sunglasses. â

The image is given a double-take in a shock that was different from one of fright. She was astounded since this creature didnât look too far off from something that could be found in Hueco Mundo. Almost instinctively, she mumbled: âItâs not much bigger than a Menos.â It didnât assure her that the potential battle would be any less trying, but it served to put her restless mind at ease. Even if it was short-lived.Â
As if on cue, a feral howl made the entirety of Auburn vibrate. Not a second later was Gamuza drawn, and for good reason too. It was blatantly obvious that this wasnât something fabricated from her nervousness when Rin ceased all movement before she had. Nel steeled herself with a silent intake of oxygen and adjusted her stance. There was a single stomp that shook the area with a ferocity equivalent to its cry.Â
     TwoâŚÂ
Three, accompanied by an exasperated huff of air.Â
âItâs coming.â The pounding of the giantâs feet against the forest floor only occurred in increments for four or five, almost like the beast was stopping every-so-often to scan its surroundings for prey. But as theyâd clearly heard, all of the smaller game had instantly perceived the danger and fled. They were the only pair in the monsterâs path. The trees rustled once more and the air gradually became odious. It wreaked of deathâ both fresh and aged. And now, its colossal, yet wiry figure was outlined in the darkness from which it emerged. Those red eyes filled with murderous intent narrowed to a hungry glower. It was daunting, but escaping now would betray everything she believed in. As a warrior, now was the time to fight. After a moment of silence and a climaxing of the tension, the âwendigoâ âas Rin had called itâ rushed toward them. âLetâs go!âÂ
With all that was happening right now, he figured asking her about what in the world a Menos was wouldn't be entirely appropriate. That'd have to be saved for another time. One where they weren't in danger and could casually chat. He's just a bit rattled as he hadn't expected this to happen so quickly, though. It's fine, or so he tells himself as he stands next to Nel, hands balling into fists as he awaited their opponent. "It's coming." He can hear her say and he gives a nod in acknowledgement. â Guess it's time we taught this thing a lesson. â And a lesson would be learned once they were done killing this thing.
A bright blue aura began to flow from Rin's body, atop of his head sat two distinct blue balls of flames. Ears became elongated and canines became more prominent. He reaches back for his sword, unzipping the red sleeve he usually kept tied to his back. It's quickly unsheathed and he points it forward, hands gripping the hilt as he readied himself for what was to come. The creature, whom now stood in front of them. Eyes giving off an ominous red glow as it stared at the both of them. â Alright, you ugly bastard. We're gonna send you back to hell! â Rin hissed and was only met with a growl in return.
As Nel gave the signal, Rin was quick to shoot off into the Beast's direction. Sword now coated with the flames that covered his body, he kicks off of the ground to deliver a blow to it's arm, a direct hit thankfully. And the creature howls in pain for just a moment before bringing a paw down to swipe at the boy, who had only missed it by just a few centimeters as he landed safely back on the ground. â Nel, go! â
SLAYER
TEAR THE BINCH APART
Her hazel-eyed gaze panned downward to a pair of reluctantly shuffling feet, dragging her along a dirt path etched messily amidst the greenery. It wasnât a result of a wavering confidence; Nelliel understood her own strength well enough. Moreover, had any given situation had gotten too desperate she knew that protecting herself (and Rin, if need-be) would solidify her resolve and suppress the inhibitions. Those facts considered, it became near impossible to provide a logical explanation for the high tides of anxiousness rushing inâ like that of a childâs who was wandering off alone into lands so foreign, literal as it was. It turned knots in her stomach with more intensity than she cared to endure. But as Rin had said, this was for fun. Theyâd be fine⌠right?
âFun? Is this what people normally do for the holiday? It would be my first time celebrating like this, and my second time celebrating at all.â For a Hollow who spent all of her life merely struggling to survive in no-manâs-land prior to Aizenâs arrival, there was a bountiful supply of experiences waiting in the World of the Living and beyond. Humbly, this gesture that her companion would likely deem small was greatly appreciated. It meant a lot to her that anyone would bother to request her presence like this. That said, it was true that she hadnât a clue who or what they were searching for. It was probable that up to this point her imagination had been getting the best of her. But Rin knewâ the tone in his voice when he asked attested to that. âIâve never even heard of one before today. What are they?â
Maybe fun had been a bit of a stretch in describing what this was supposed to be. It could be fun in it's own way, yes. Most people would have rather gone tick or treating for candy rather than search for some mythical monster. Still, it's kind of surprising that Nel had never heard of the creature before. Then again, he had only found out about it recently himself when he had looked it up online while at his apartment. Reaching into his pocket now, a cell phone is pulled out and he quickly opens the internet browser installed onto the phone. â Really? Huh..that's weird. Hold on. â In no time at all, he searches for pictures of the beast and once he finds something suitable, he holds the phone up for her to see. â This is what we're looking for! Scary, don't you think? âÂ
As if perfectly timed with the moment, a howl could be heard in the distance that reverberated and from around them, the hurried pitter patter and crunching of the leaves could only suggest that animals in the surrounding area were running away from that noise. That had been enough to make Rin slowly stop to a halt, eyes wide as he slowly turned to look to his friend. â ...Did you hear that? â Words are whispered, being cautious as to not lead whatever's out there to them first. â That...didn't sound like a wolf. â And he's heard plenty of wolves in his time. This was...different. It didn't sound like the hollow howls he became used to. It was something much more sinister than that.
@deduxi
âThis is the place, right? Youâre sure?â The flora and foliage reaching for an indigo sky overhead created a scene that was âto put it mildlyâ eerie. Though sheâd not admit it, the change in locale for this âhuntâ was a pinch unsettling. Here especially, she held her vigilance on a pedestal above all else, granting it priority. Sheâd check over her shoulder into the shadows that gradually swelled and listen intently for anything that would signal danger. Though so far (aside from some crickets and birds if their sounds were any indicator), they were alone. The pace in which sheâd walked was altered, and almost subconsciously had Nelliel moved beside Rinâ though the distance was still respectable. Not a peep of the underlying uncertainties was permitted to surface, so another topic came forth naturally. âIf this is it, then we shouldnât have much trouble finding them. Was there any particular reason you asked to come here?â Â
â Yep, this is it! I'm positive! â Confirmation is given quickly with a nod as he walked alongside Nelliel. When he had first posed the idea of coming together to look for whatever this...thing was that had the locals so worried, he hadn't expected her to say yes. Yet here they were in the gloomy woodlands of District Auburn, not a soul in sight nor a sound to be heard except for the animals. â Nah, no real reason in particular. â That may be just a little bit of a lie, as he saw this as an opportunity to be more alone with her than he had ever been. And besides, what better way to impress someone than to chase off a monster? â Just kinda thought it'd be fun, really! Yâknow...with Halloween cominâ up and all. Plus, I wanna see if theyâre tellinâ the truth about this thing. â
â You do know what a wendigo is, donât you? â Â
