Won't lie, I've been on Tumblr for a decade now and I've given this website a lot of flack for the stupid stuff it's done, but watching it take unabashed potshots at Twitter like this is making me kinda proud. Like I set up real estate here in 2013, suffered through years of stupid policy revisions and new re-zoning laws, and now we all get to come together as a community and shit on all the people in the city and their new idiot mayor. I've never felt this kind of camaraderie on this website before and honestly I kinda hope it never ends.

one of my fave things about tumblr is when we all become obsessed with a piece of media, like Dracula by Bram Stoker, or Goncharov by Martin Scorsese

how am i supposed to use any other social media site. which other site has a userbase so commited to the bit that a nonexistent movie can trend at no1

i think you should get one blue check mark, whether u like it or not, for every year u have been on tumblr. and then if you hate that you you can pay eight dollars to have them taken away. but i don’t think twitter users coming here have earned the RIGHT to a blue check mark yet. they haven’t done their time

I think you should be able to give the checkmarks to other people, nonconsentually

since goncharov (1973) is now having a rennaisance on tumblr for some reason, i would love to share a fun fact about the inspiration for this film. even though its set in the 20th century, the inspiration for the story actually comes from a 19th century theatre play written by none other than the most famous czech playwright Jára Cimrman! Even though there is some discourse about this in the level of connection between these two works of art, there is no doubt that the struggle and emotional journey of Goncharov really reflects the one of the titular character of the play, Hloupý Honza. Therefore it's quite clear where the idea for the film comes from. I would even say that the transformation into a new medium and time setting really bring out a more subtle themes of the play to light.
