Katerina was born into one of 5 houses that look over a remote village, the Orlov house, symbolized by two harpies. The house members lived in a fortress on the mountains surrounding the village. Katerina grew up curious of her surroundings and this interest made her versed in various topics, making her well educated. Outside of general exploration, her favorite thing to do was singing and playing, picking up multiple stringed instruments along the way.

As Katerina grew she started to spend time with other young people at the village. Her free nature and knowledge about the outside world made her interesting to be around, although some of the more traditional families didn't appreciate her. She would go on to sing and play at celebrations.

At around this time, Mother Miranda started to take notice of her for the first time. It was combination of her natural potential and her being a part of the Orlov house. Katerina and her family resisted her, knowing very well that Mother Miranda was far from a saint. The village always had an underlying danger that continuously reared it's ugly head. A new threat came in the form of Lycans. Katerina was down in the village when the first attack happened. She tried to help others the best she could, but it was soon evident that every man was now on their own. Katerina was able to make it to the gate that led to the Orlov fortress, but was cornered. She decided that if she was going to go out, she would be doing what she loved, and began to sing. To her surprise this seemed to "subdue" the Lycans, buying her a few precious moments to get through the gate and lock it behind her. Katerina didn't know it yet, but Mother Miranda saw everything.

After a while of hiding away at the fortress, Katerina was drawn out by what sounded like a child in distress and went out looking for her. Katerina started to run through the cliff side woods upon the cries becoming more distressed, but what she didn't realize that she was running directly towards a cliff. When she did it was far too late. Katerina plummeted all the way down the mountain. After her body had laid there for a couple of moments, she was scooped up by none other than Mother Miranda. She hastily brought Katerina to her lab, because, by some miracle, Katerina had some life left in her after such a lethal fall.

After an undetermined amount of time Katerina woke up with a start and in severe pain. That wasn't all. When she looked down towards her hands, she found grotesque claws instead.

Mother Miranda told her what had happened to her in detail, even admitting that the little girl that Katerina heard was a scheme created by Mother Miranda to get this result. She had gotten her hands on the Orlov family's Harpy Eagle, a rare specimen and she didn't want it to go to waste. Katerina was far from happy about this but after some not so subtle threats by Mother Miranda, she caved to her. Atleast for now.

Mother Miranda returned Katerina to her now distraught family, along with demands about Katerina's future involvement with her order. The Orlov family agreed, although unbeknownst to her, they were lying. After a while of very understandable mental crisis and bouts of physical pain, Katerina started to explore her new powers, them now being a part of her. She practiced flying with the wings she could now sprout and even found out her singing had a stronger effects on others. Even if it looked like she was coping, Katerina was just trying to make the best out a horrible situation, with varying success.

One stormy day Katerina's parents came to her. With their boundless connections as a family of explores, they had found Katerina a way out, although it was far from ideal. They knew of an remote village in Spain, with whispers of similar activity happening there as well. The lord of the area was the last of his line and wouldn't be opposed to having a wife. They had gotten in contact with the current figurehead of the village, who was also the young lord's father figure. He had agreed to the deal.

To say Katerina was reluctant is an understatement. An arranged marriage to someone who she never has met and who is also apparently involved with a similar kind of evil that is plaguing their small community? Her parents pleaded with her that this would assure her a life far away from Mother Miranda, while in the lap of luxury. They also told her that the village was rather remote and hostile, so even if Mother Miranda would send someone after her, they would be met with strong opposition.

After a few days of thinking about it, Katerina agreed. And it couldn't have been at a better time, as Mother Miranda came to get Katerina to meet with the other lords. She was given every necessary thing for journey, which included the correspondence between the two villages. Katerina was led to a secret passage way under the fortress, that would lead through the mountain, and out of the village. After Katerina would get to the end she would have to fly and not stop until she was somewhere unrecognizable. Katerina gave a tearful and painful goodbye to her parents, before descending down to the tunnel and running. As she ran she could hear screams of pain echoing through the walls. Mother Miranda wasn't pleased about the family going against her. It took all of her will to not turn around to try to save them, but Katerina knew that their sacrifices can't be in vain, so she kept going until the screams were no longer audible.

When Katerina reached the the exit she immediately took to sky, flying through wilderness, towns and even a couple of larger cities before stopping. She landed on a branch on top a large tree and wailed. For hours. There was so much pain and grief that she couldn't process before. Eventually she had to move on. Her screaming had for certain attracted attention.

Katerina would continue her journey through Europe, traveling by night. During this time she saw a lot of new things with her own two eyes, things she had only ever read about. When day would come, Katerina would find a remote place to rest and read the letters given to her, trying to get a better sense of her future home. Katerina also found out, much to her horror, that she had developed some level bloodlust and could now digest raw meat. Atleast it made finding food for the journey somewhat easier..

Likes to swim and is pretty good at it, minus when has her wings.

Her hair grows super fast as an odd side effect of her mutation, and so she needs to keep cutting it to avoid a total "Rapunzel" situation.

She spent her childhood being very active and she often climbed mountain walls without any regard for her safety (she has always been a reckless dumbass)

Was referred to as either "little songbird" or "little storm cloud" by her family.

Animalistic instincts kick into her brain every now and again (especially if fully mutated) and this leads to her behaviour changing. Bird noises, odd habits, some other stuff cough cough

Has better senses now, she can hear way better and can see extremely well, even in total darkness!

Strong enough grip force to crush a log with her talons.

Can walk on her two back feet when fully mutated, but is far more fast and agile on all fours.

Stopped dyeing his hair to look more like his dad

On the verge of tears constantly (pretty on brand for Franco so I guess it's a win??)

Teddy is now attached to the bandolier

Wears his dad's coat, it's a bit of a tight fit, but isn't too small since Franco wore oversized suits

Inspiration/Breakdown:

Inspired by the huldra and this absolute legend (aka. Rölli, a popular Finnish fairy tale character)

The skull is supposed a combination of a reindeer and a Siberian musk deer.

Human torso under the clothing, hands are dark claws, which turn into a gradient at the elbow joint, legs are satyr-like and reindeer inspired.

Tail is a slightly fancier version of your average troll tail, can be used for balance and to hold some things.

The head looked too "empty" so I added large bat inspired ears.

Skull not attached to face, but it might as well be. Pretty much expressionless as a result. Probably wore a skull of a different animal when younger.

Clothing not set in stone and will be heavily inspired by my own tastes (naturally)
