Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.

It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.

It's rude.

i can never help but laugh whenever I see aesthetic videos of people going “oh to be loved by a writer” and then show these aesthetic pictures of poets bending over their papers with ink spilled over their fingers with notes filled with beautiful flowing letters that are all full of love for the person watching it.

Meanwhile I am a writer and I know a couple of writers who look more like the conspiracy board meme whenever we’re writing, love poem or not. And when I mean conspiracy board meme I mean it, eye bags under our eyes, coffee cups in the corner bc we have enough caffeine in our system to kill a horse, notes covered in chicken scratch writing, 50 documents are opened in our computers and none of us know where our thesis paper is, let alone where your love poem I spent all night writing is while looping a song that reminds me of you.

what I’m saying is- this is very expectation versus reality.
