Millennials are fighting back just by surviving in a job market where the minimum wage doesn’t cover the living cost. Millennials are awesome at “killing” the diamond, golfing and napkins industries. Millennials are using the internet to make sure things that corporations want to keep in the dark are exposed. They’re open LGBTQIA-friendly business, they’re supporting each other with online donations so everyone can survive this shitty economy.

And the Gen Z kids? The Gen Z kids are rad. I remember a post about something like the millennials making a collective promise to never become a disenchanted generation that only criticizes the next one and I want to point out that this “millennials vs gen z” trend is trying to do exactly that: split us apart. Prevent millennials from being the older siblings that teach the younger siblings to throw a good punch and turn them into the annoyed adult complaining about “those kids” on their lawn. We are the two groups that grew in a connected world of information. We are two very unique generations.

She sat at the table with wild stripes covering her dress, her hair in a proper bun, her red nails deliberately long and clawlike. Her appearance was imposing–on purpose.

He didn’t give a care. He came up so suddenly she started out of her seat, nearly knocking over her chair. Her once slender dress flared upward, caught in the wind, revealing beautiful glimmering ebony round the corset. She was like a raven in startled flight.

“Care fer'a dance, madame?” His voice was too loud, but he didn’t notice.

“I…I say!!” She flustered to recollect her intimidating facade. She fixed her dress up to show just the stripes, while also looking for an exit to storm out of. “I am not in the mood to find a date. I am merely present at this event to watch my friend perform in ten minutes.”

“Aww, I’m not lookin’ fer'a date, madame,” he countered with an animated humility. “I’m just lookin’ to have a dance. Just with anybody. Y’ look like you’d be great at it!” He displayed some of his moves–energetic, if a little flamboyant. He seemed to slide across the floor. “Sure yer’ friend’d appreciate some lively show of appreciation fer his ‘er her playing, eh??”

She considered. A gust of air from a distant door opening and closing caught her scarf, momentarily revealing dazzling leopard print. She thought about her passion for dancing, though she had planned on completing her class before dancing professionally, let alone at a big event like this. Still…he seemed a good, if unorthodox match. And her feet were already catching fire.

“One dance..?”

“Just the one,” he chirped, “an’ I’ll be right outta yer hair!”

She offered her hand tentatively.

He bowed low and gave the hand a surprisingly gentle, polite kiss.

She knew right then…up to this point,

This would be the best night of her life.

“Danny Singcrabb,” he introduced himself. “Pleasure to meet you, madame.”
