Deafened by deafness

This is my friend, Emma Duffy. She's an absolutely wonderful and inspirational person... she's currently on a psychiatric unit, and is pretty much fighting for her life, the NHS is failing to provide her with the care her life depends on. They are currently discussing discharging her as they've deemed her "too complex", this pretty much means they are sending her home to let her die. She's not terminally ill, she may not have a physical illness, but Anorexia has the highest fatality rate of all mental illnesses. Emma has not eaten solids in a very long time, and relies on nutrition drinks to keep her alive. Words cannot describe how heartbreaking it is to see once such a healthy woman have her life slowly taken away by mental illness.  the following text is from Emma's younger sister, Amy.  "My sister, Emma Duffy has been refused funding for one of the only suitable mental health units in the country. She doesn't meet the criteria for any NHS ward, even though the following has happened...  *She has had an eating disorder for 15 years *Attempted suicide 9 times (once whilst on the ward she's currently on) *Needed resuscitation  *Needed blood transfusions *Been admitted to hospital for IV lines HUNDREDS of times *Thought her own family were trying to murder her *Not eaten since last May *Been sectioned numerous times, for months at a time. *The ward she is currently sectioned on is a short term stay ward (most stays last up to 21 days). She's been there over 5 months as they don't know where else to send her.  As a family, we have been told to prepare for her death on more than one occasion. Her organs have been failing and most specialists and consultants say they have no idea how she is still alive. Even after all this, she does not meet the criteria for specialist help. Her case is either too complex for units to handle, or we cannot get the funding.  Please help us raise money and awareness, to save Emma."
