Been a while since I put myself out there, so figured I’d make something to plug my characters. Just my two main ones for now. Let’s RP!

Some would consider Ruran Vas to be a man of mystery: the most obvious one being what lies behind his mask. He is polite and gullible to a fault, and he gives off a strong sense of duty (even if it’s accompanied by melancholy). His heart is large, and he wishes to do right…but the world is a cruel place. Circumstances and misfortunes have broken him piece by piece, and so he thinks of little else but the path he must walk.

Steppe-born but raised in Eorzea by a band of mercenaries, Madoc Parnell has little recollection of time in his homeland, something he is hoping to fix by his recent journey across the sea. Boisterous and confident, he is typically good company to be around, with plenty of stories to tell and scars to match. Being morally grey, he sees little wrong with cutting down his enemies. In fact, he seems to relish in the energy of a good battle.

“Distributed throughout back alleys and dive bars all over Eorzea, simple cards and flyers for ‘The Golden Gil Casino & Resort’ can be found in growing frequency. Hidden somewhere in the Mists, the Golden Gil offers high stakes gambling, entertainment and other less than legal fare. ‘Jobs available!’ reads in large print, from dealers, to servers and performers. Rumor has it that more information can be found in Plot 43 of the 11th Ward of the Mists, ‘Sylastair’s Halfway Home for Wayward Boys’.”

“So What Is This?”

The Golden Gil Casino and Resort is a new RP establishment that seeks to combine sleeziness glamour off a Las Vegas casino with the subterfuge and fun of a speak-easy. With various games of chance, drinks and drugs the Golden Gil offers characters a place to feel like a big spender, desperate gambler or both!

“Is All of This Using Real Gil?”

Yes it is! While the entrance fee, drinks and drugs will all be IC every table game will use actual gil, meaning players have a chance to get lucky and win it big! (So please tip your waitresses and dealers).

“So When is This Place Opening?”

If enough bodies are found to get the games running and keep people drunk and happy, the tentative grand opening is September 7th. That though is subject to change as interest is worked out and good people to help out are found!

“So Is the Golden Gil Hiring?”

We are! We currently have a LS that I’ll be giving out to those who want to work at the Golden Gil for it’s Monthly events, but no Free Company commitment is required. Open positions include:

“How Much Does the Casino Take Off the Top?” 

Nothing! No, seriously. While ICly it is assumed money taken in will be used to keep the place running, any gil made by casino personnel goes to pay servers, dealers and those who become part of the team! A nice little excel spreadsheet will be kept updated with funds made for a little added clarity as well.

idk if a lot of people i am mutuals with are scared to send them? idk if i am intimidating, i try not to be at all. i try to make myself as approachable as possible. but here’s the lowdown about memes with me.

So I roleplay a male au ra in a female model and had joined a Xaela rp discord channel. A member there asked if I could even do that when I answered that there were NPCs that were already like that. They didn’t believe me, told me I was lore bending by making a smaller stature male au ra, and suggested I make my character half aura half hyur instead. I told them I wasn’t going to change my character and I wasn’t asking permission to play my character how I was.

Here is an NPC that is cannonly a male au ra in the female model. You can find him at the north gate of Reunion.

They could be a teenager or a late bloomer (all the child male au ra are not much bigger than the girls. Maybe the height sets in at puberty.) They could have had stunted growth from health issues. Hell, poor nutrition and lack of food can significantly stunt the growth of real life people.

I would like to add to this post because I’m seeing a lot of rude people. There is a side quest in Reunion called “Stranger Danger” in which you are tasked in finding lost children and pointing them in the direction of what I assume is a care giver of the area.

Two of these children are a twin pair of the Himaa. This is the sister, as you can see, she is on the male model, the darker sclera being a very clear indication/giveaway. Her brother is 100% alike to her.

Given that there are multiple occurrences, not to mention a whole tribe of genderfluid, or at the very least, a tribe that is very accepting of gender fluidity via reincarnation (hello Dotharl), I don’t think this is a mistake or typo. I feel that xaela have other things to worry about other than who is using “the correct” pronouns.

Can we stop trying to police what others do with their own characters yet? Because all you’re doing when you tell someone they cannot play a certain thing while screaming ‘it’s lore bending!’ is making people feel invalidated (especially those of us players who are trans/genderqueer playing trans/genderqueer characters). Tiergan’s reasonings are also pretty on point, there can be a lot of reasons as to why someone would be smaller than what is considered “the normal.”

If you want to play a male character on a female model (or vice versa!) absolutely do it. Be it because you want to play a trans or genderqueer/fluid character, or whether or not you’re just sick of the obnoxious sexual dimorphism in mainstream MMO’s, or just want to play a smaller/larger framed character, do it. Don’t let someone try to police your reasonings for doing so, those aren’t the kind of people you’d have fun roleplaying with anyway.
