Matt was a control freak. And that was putting it mildly. He always wanted to know about every aspect of a situation before he dove in, he always wanted to be in complete control wherever he went, lest he end up torn to shredsâlike the first time he had gone against Nobu. Being with Elektra had been part of the reason he had ended up this way. Letting go of control with her had burned him badly. He didnât think he could do it again.Â
But then he was back in her presence and it was so easy to just let go of everything that had been holding him back for so long, everything that had been dragging him down and putting these memories he had with Elektra in a negative light. Still, after everything with The Handâhe couldnât just let that control go.
âYou know what I mean,â he said, pulling away from the kiss too quickly for his liking, but knowing that this was a conversation they needed to have. âYou know what I mean,â he repeated, his lips pressing together into a thin line, his palms resting flat against the wall as she freed her hands, still close to her, still feeling that proximity like they were both miles apart and incredibly close together at once. He felt a slight frown tug down at the corner of his lips. Needless to say, this complicated what was already complex.
He wasnât looking for a relationship, certainly not with Elektra, where he had been hurt beforeâright? He couldnât be. Still, there was that magnetic pull, that understanding that they were the sameâthat they always would be.
Before he could overthink it, he gave up some of his control. He kissed her again.
The few moments she looked at Matthew, waiting for an answer, and idea was born. Maybe she was never going to be good enough for him. He was good, even if he denied it, he had a pure heart and a good soul, but she didn't, and maybe that was never going to change no matter how hard she tried. Maybe he was better off without her.
Elektra gladly kissed him back, his touch was the only thing that could make those thoughts fade away. She kissed him hard, because every time they were together it felt just like the first time, and she wanted him so bad. "I'm going to do this right, Matthew." She whispered against his lips, caressing his face. But the thought was still on the back of her mind.
