They are refused access to things and are shunned from places and segregated from adults
It gets so bad that even adults who are from different generations are perpetuating the divide between eachother when we're all supposed to be a community
It makes me so upset that even this community often discriminates against minors
I think minors should be able to vote, to be able to make decisions for themselves, to be told what's going on, not just "oh they're not old enough for that"

A lot of issues that come from minors being allowed into adult spaces is purely fucking social and if there was no shame or "they shouldn't know this" "they shouldn't see this" attached to it and they were actually fucking told and treated like fucking people it would not be a god fucking damn issue
I'd like to add that not only is ageism as bad as racism or misogyny, it also regularly intersects with them, and other forms of prejudice like transphobia and homophobia.
Black and Latino teenagers being specifically targeted in fear mongering around "juvenile delinquents".
Girls having both their status as kids and as female to justify being treated as property by their fathers and male caregivers, especially when they're also their abusers.
"Protection of children" being used as a rhetorical weapon against queerness.
Trans kids being denied transition because of their age.
Ageism helps fuel so many other forms of prejudice, and vice versa, and there are so many forms of oppression that are specific to minors of color and queer minors.

Relationships are so scary. So hard to trust people. But I wish I could feel safe, at least for once with somebody. To know they care for me. I've been let down so many times that it's far too difficult to trust others and open up to them.
We always act like someone or something else. Our true identity is unknown. It feels like we need another half to be complete. I feel safe knowing someone feels similarly as I do, with much love in their heart.

As a Jewish person myself I find it weird and gross that a community founded on loving people for who they are has transitioned into these types of things. Basing an aesthetic or a look based on these HORRIBLE things that have happened to other minorities is just as terrible as supporting them.
