basically what I was going for here was cap talking to his pillow as if it were Havers, and Havers (also dead) talking to his pillow as if it were Cap. I haven’t come up with a way that Havers died yet so like…suggest away! I drew him in late 40s-50s clothing so do with that what you will.

My problem stems from the fact people often use nonverbal and selectively mute interchangebly to refer to characters who neither of those terms can be applied to
Nonverbal: actual diagnostic (is that the right word?) term to refer to a person who can't speak at all, or has very limited speech. People who can normally speak often use this to say "i couldn't speak for a little bit", but this is incorrect. Some prefer the term "nonspeaking".
Selective Mutism: an anxiety disorder that makes affected individuals unable to speak in some situations. It generally affects people with social anxiety or like. anxiety over speaking i guess since it can also affect people who speak english as a second language.
and also, for shxts and giggles
Semiverbal: term used to refer to people with limited communication abilities; encompasses a spectrum of communication abilities. Some semiverbal people have referred to their experiences as selective mutism. Some prefer semi-speaking
Verbal Shutdown: term that describes a person who has can speak normally but has lost the ability to speak at the moment, likely to do being overwhelmed or something.
I find people often use the the term selective mutism to refer to someone who has simply lost the ability to speak for the moment, but lacks the distinctive tie to anxiety that would make it That Thing.
For example: a teacher calls on you in class and instead of being able to respond, your brain turns off, your heart rate quickens, and you can't answer. No matter how much you think "say something!', you can't.
Most of the time, in the fics i've read where the characters are labeled as selectively mute or nonverbal, they actually mean "this character is having a verbal shut down"
Speaking and communication is a spectrum! It depends on the person! Just do your research! Listen to people about their experiences!
I would also recommend the books "The Reason I Jump" and "Fall down 7 times get up 8" by Naoki Higashida, which in part also talk about communication difficulties in nonverbal autism if I remember correctly, along with yknow autism experience (which. the depiction of autism in fics is a whole different topic.).
Also feel free to read about the different kinds of AAC that people use when they can't talk! People can write stuff on a piece of paper, use gestures, a communication board, an app, sign language and more!
im not sure if im actually delusional but i have unreal beliefs of a variety of my original characters being real existing people. like, i imagine them as real humans in my minds. i imagine their rock band is real and they have music videos. i listen to their music in my mind and treat them like real people. whenever i get reminded that theyre just characters i get upset and even some meltdowns
since i believe theyre real people i dont want anyone to headcanon them. i dont want others to treat these fellas like they would to another fictional character, i want to be the only one who treats these guys however i want. but whenever i explain this i usually just get hate and people say stuff like "theyre not real and will never be! quit this thinking and treat them like fictional characters as thats what they are!" to me
i mean, am i the bad one for setting boundaries based on my delusions? im sorry but they are real to me. why is it so hard for people to respect boundaries

We're in a lot of pro-ship/pro-fiction and anti-censorship circles, but a sentiment we see all too commonly is something along the lines of "as long as it's not real pedophilia".

okay so imagine super mario sunshine. if you haven't played that game or watched your father play that game it's 3D mario but we're making him do community service via water jetpack cleanup and it's tropical themed. slime fetish is already a thing because the islands are covered with caustic goop. you with me so far? good. there are these fucking things called piantas that are like, human palm tree hybrids on the island and they make up most of the npcs. sometimes you do mini missions by delivering fruit to them and this is important
there's also mini missions where mario's jetpack gets taken away and he has to do whatever the fuck on foot. i want you to guess what my mind came up with before you read on
i dreamed that the jetpack got taken but an area was covered in goop, so, like the sensible person mario is, he began to deliver fruits to the piants which made them. lactate. which he could use to get rid of the goop. but you had to give them the right goop because some goop needed papaya milk and some needed pineapple milk and some okay yeah I'm gonna stop there
i cannot highlight this enough: this is not my fetish. i did not wake up aroused. i woke up trying to remember what level in the game had this mechanic. i was going damn, they'd put anything in kids games huh, before remembering that they didn't actually go that far. now the question is, whose thing is this. why did I specifically receive their fetish in dream form. and the images are so wildly vivid in my mind that I almost want to see if that exists, if this is some vestigial memory from when I used to look up wild shit on the uncensored internet as a kid or if I independently came up with this in my subconscious
