Prayer to Dionysos Lyaeus, The Loosener . . .

Son of the the fair one, leopard-eyed prince of the skies. For you do the satyrs run, for you the magpie flies.

O! Lyaeus! Loosener of man, I kneel at your feet again. Heal the aching hole in my heart, remove the thing tearing me apart. Calm me from my woes, for you I will offer prose and for you the sap will flow.

A prayer/poem for Dionysus as someone in a heavily Christian society during Easter

all those around me sing with joy

and i smile

but not because of some risen lord

i smile at the thrice-born god

whose silhouette strikes fear into those who reject him

whose gifts have been enjoyed by all generations

i smile at the liberator

who sets me free

by guiding me to myself

i smile at she who inspires me to know myself

as their brother told his worshippers at Delphi

I revel in his spirit

I will partake in parties and exultation

in the name of Dionysos, i will
