The Odds Are Never In Our Favor

the blonde was more than proud and willing to be a mentor for her district. plus every year it meant that she got to see the one woman who meant everything to her in the entire world. the only person in her life who ever meant more than regina was her daughter. but the weeks that they were in the capitol together were what she always looked forward to. and this year was even better as she got more time to spend with regina. one of them usually sneaking into the other’s room as they were never put on the same floor. “hello my dear.” she smiled as she met the other in the lobby of the building.

before the games regina never really felt anything for the games, she didn’t see the needed to ever volunteer. but when she was reaped she made it her goal to win, and luckily for the latina she did win. many people weren’t expecting her to win since she kept her talents more secretive and the careers were seen as the best chance to win. but the brunette came out on top and won. and ever since then she was happy to mentor people from her districts. this year was going to be hard since her daughter was going against her girlfriends, and regina was going to do everything to help her daughter win. “hello beautiful.”

“hey laelia.” the brunette smiled at the female. “what do you think of magnus’ ideas so far?” she inquired. the female was still slightly jealous of the male getting the position, but she wasn’t ever one to act up on it. her plan was just to keep working hard, hoping that someday she’d get her chance.

“i think they are pretty interesting. i’m curious to see any other new ideas he has.” the brunette replied. laelia knew that she only got a job as a gamemaker at such a young age because her grandfather was head gamemaker years ago. but the girl wanted to come up with good ideas so people knew that she was meant to be a gamemaker. 

“well hello my beautiful.”the dark haired female beamed at her girlfriend. naevia had always been a bright and smiling person. and seeing her girlfriend made it even worse than normal. “how is my beautiful girl doing today?”

virginia wasn’t expecting the twist on the games this year, and she wasn’t happy about it at all. the girl already hated the games, but she needed a good job, which a stylist was. and instead of designing one person’s outfits she had to design three. but the girl’s girlfriend always brought a smile to her face. “ so much better now that i see your beautiful face. how are you?”

“ i’m viola, or violet whichever is easiest. “  viola extends a hand, not one to not socialize. she always has been a fan of socializing and talking. “ i don’t think we’ve met before, have we? i could be wrong. hope not though or that’d be really bad of me. “

tullia wasn’t the happiest girl, nor did she really like to be around super cheery people, so the blonde was just giving her a little bit of a headache. “i’m tullia.” she introduced herself, crossing her arms and not shaking violette’s hand.

“wow… that is really something.” there was a head shake of mock disapproval and a smile appearing on the blonde’s face as he looked around him. he should be training, that’s what everyone else has been saying. but, the truth was he’d much rather spend the last few months of his life looking around and taking in everything one last time. talking to no-one in particular, he continued to gaze around like the tourist he clearly was. “these people live like they were kings- or stars… or something. i can’t imagine how they manage to do that. i can’t even put on my shirt right the first time around and they have this whole show set up.”

“that is because some of them are starts.” felix replied to the tribute. felix knew that people in the capitol lived well, especially those who were more well-off than other, like felix’s family. they had always been close the presidential family. it is why their family worked as hosts of the hunger games for quite a while. and this year was going to be felix’s first year that he helped out his sisters with hosting the games along side of them. “it takes a lot of work and a lot of people to get everything set-up that they need.” 

“I always thought the clothes my mom made were ugly, but it’s even worse seeing someone actually wear them,” he says to himself, staring down to the streets of the Capitol, watching as people with ghastly clothes went about their daily business. Zeek hadn’t yet gotten used to everything, having been hiding his room, only coming out when he thought that there so no else around. Normally, he would be very friendly, but he wasn’t sure how to talk to someone who was either going to get killed or kill him.

“the outfits aren’t that terrible.” the brunette laughed softly. “it’s more of the time the hair and the makeup that makes everything worse.” luna grew up in a poor district, so she couldn’t understand how the capitol was fine with having so much. but it also made sense since they all thought the hunger games were good. for having blissful ignorance they got awarded with everything a person might want.
