Hi there! I'm Zachary Septimus Smith. I am FtM transgender and in the middle of my transition. I was in the WDW College Program for Fall 2013, but had to self-term for personal reasons. This blog is about both of those things. Personal blog: septimusprime.tumblr.com
This is the last thing I'll be posting to this blog, but the blog will stay up as a resource, and if you send it asks I will still get them and still answer them! Just keep in mind that my information is now three years old and a LOT has changed. To follow rad trans/queer dcp folks who are more hip and relevant, because they are doing their program right now for fall 2016, check out my friends over at Genderfluidaurora.tumblr.com And Violetsintune.tumblr.com

So I think I'm gonna put this blog on hiatus for a while.
It's gone from a blog about my journey to just being the place where I reblog certain things I would have reblogged anyway, you know? So until such a time as I'm applying for a program or going back to the company is some capacity, I think I'm going to let this blog lie.
If you want to see literally all of the same content you would see on this blog if I were not putting it on hiatus, come on over to my personal blog!
Help a new non-binary magazine get off the ground by making sure we reach our target!
PLEASE SIGNAL BOOST THIS FUNDRAISER! IT’S A NEW ONLINE MAGAZINE FOR NON-BINARY FOLKS, CENTERING PEOPLE OF COLOUR.
Help a new UK trans online magazine site get off the ground by making sure we reach our target of £900 in 40 days.
What is Beyond the Binary?
Beyond the Binary will be a submissions-based magazine website, which aims to give non-binary people in the UK the opportunity to contribute and share what they are experiencing, thinking and doing. We recognise that there is a lack of non-binary representation in the media, and that often non-binary people’s voices aren’t heard. Beyond the Binary wants to re-balance that, and give non-binary people a platform.
Beyond the Binary is run by non-binary people, for non-binary people. We already have a Working Group of over 70 members passionate about creating and contributing to the site. Beyond the Binary aims to reach out and be relevant to as many people as possible, which is why we’re focussing on submissions and welcoming people who identify anywhere on the non-binary spectrum from the UK to submit articles or other media on a range of different topics, from real life, discussion and opinion, to reviews, artwork, and fiction. As well as that, we’d like this to be a community resource – hosting events, projects, and lists of safe and inclusive groups and organisations. Interested? We have some submissions information here!
Why is it important?
Currently, there’s little in the way of representation or work with non-binary people in the UK, so this project is much needed. A lot of voices are coming out of the US, and Beyond the Binary was in part inspired by all the amazing activism and community resources overseas. Having said that, we are also aware that even within this small group of people, the voices who usually get heard are white, and we encourage and welcome people of colour to submit even if they are based outside of the UK.
There is already a lot of excitement behind this project, and some of the Editorial Team working on putting the site together made a video to explain a bit more about themselves and the impact of this project.
We’d love for this site to look and feel amazing. We deserve a space of our own to express our feelings about the stuff that affects us, laugh about our lives, and inspire others. Let’s make it happen.
Donate via our Indiegogo page here, where you can read more about the project and our cash breakdown. We’ll be providing updates every week as well.
This blog supports trans & nonbinary people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or any of the other things that are supposed to discredit us from being able to make decisions about our bodies and our realities

An open letter to the state of Oregon re: the recent decrease in my ebt allowance
Dear State of Oregon,
There is a significant difference between having enough money for something and being able to afford something.
Love and kisses,
Zachary Septimus

I just realized that in 2055 I am going to go to the Disneyland 100th celebration and I'm going to be like 70 or some shit and it's going to be fucking amazing.
So the thing is "queer" is really good for talking about the community without excluding anybody. Like saying "LGBT" excludes pansexual people or people who are questioning or people who just don't feel comfortable with any of those four really specific labels. So it's a cool word.
But also it is a horrible slur that has been used to instigate and justify violence against people in the community, and I don't know if I feel comfortable using it. Since it has never been used against me personally I don't feel like I have any right to it, and like using it or "reclaiming" it without having had it used against me would be disrespectful to the people who have suffered at its hands.
So I'm not sure how to handle this word. Can anyone contribute anything toward helping me figure shit out? Please?

That was not what he saw every seven and a half minutes, I really like the joke about the jeep, it was those guys getting chased up the pole by the rhino.
I thought it might be the guys getting chased up the pole by the rhino, but then I second-guessed myself! Thank you!
I wanna tell you about the best skipper I ever had. He told us a whole bunch of jokes I had never heard before and haven't heard since (dlr spiel). Two stand out in my mind:
At the scene with the overturned jeep, he didn't say anything about getting the engine to turn over; he just said, "Well there's something you don't see every day! But I do. Every seven and a half minutes..." and he sounded so bitter and jaded it was amazing.
Going under Schweitzer Falls he built it up just like always and said, "Here it is folks the moment you've all been waiting for... The front side of a rock!" And then followed quickly with, "Yeah, only a few of you are gonna get that.
So It's been posed to me a couple of times, and I know other trans people have faced it too:
"Everyone has problems with their body, everyone's self-conscious about something; isn't it just the same?"
How do you explain the difference between being self-conscious about something and being dysphoric about something? I've been thinking about it a lot lately.
I think the main thing is a sort of external vs. internal distinction. Being self-conscious about something is external, like being afraid of how other people will perceive that characteristic, and not wanting anyone to see for that reason. Being dysphoric about something is all internal, like feeling disgusted with yourself for how you are. The best example I can think of is when I have to loosen my binder and my friends say, "You can't even tell! Nobody will notice." and I can only reply that "But I can tell." They assume it's a matter of feeling self-conscious when really it's a matter of feeling dysphoric.
I think that dysphoria a lot of the time leads to self-consciousness; you are so disgusted and sickened and disassociated with this attribute and that naturally leads to not wanting other people to notice. I think that's where a lot of the confusion comes from.

See this photo above of someone finding a spot to charge your phone wherever you can find it?
DON’T DO THAT!!
we were sitting on main street when a couple did that and made the whole power on main street go out…..yeah. Don’t be that person!!!
I totally get you need your phone and I have posted many tips on what to do but let me make it more clear since I saw this happening everywhere in the parks.
turn off wi-fi
turn off location services
turn off 3G/4G
turn on auto brightness
turn off Bluetooth services
Put it on airplane mode while running around the parks. You can still take photos and just check your phone every couple of hours like when you sit for a show or grab food.
Buy a extra charger
When in doubt, purchasing an external battery might be a good idea. They make external batteries and charging packs in loads of varieties. There are battery packs that you charge independently and the plug your phone up to via USB, charger packs opperated by AA batteries, and even solar power packs.
Disneyland Locker Chargers
Disneyland charges $2 dollars for two hours for a cell phone charger locker. They have them in Disneyland. I have used these and they are wonderful I just plan to grab food or do my shopping during that time, come on people its two dollars and two hours.
Much better option then blowing out main street right?
