Then Natalie is pushed closer, and Kieran's eyes shift up to meet hers. "Yeah," they say, staring into her eyes as they dance to the song. The music, though, is gone in their ears. They couldn't remember the lyrics even if they wanted to. Their arms shift around Nat's back, and they take a slow breath, reminding themself of where they stand with her brother, with her. They swallow tight and make the mistake of glancing down to Nat's lips, before back to her eyes. "Nat," they mumble, beginning to bend so easily to her every whim.

The grin on her face deepens as she feels Kieran's arms wrap around her tighter. As far as Nat was concerned they couldn't be close enough to one another. Every other person on the dance floor seemed to fade away as the music pounded in her ears. She notices the way Kieran's eyes fixate on her lips, and it has her stomach doing somersaults. "It's okay if you want to kiss me," she teases. "I won't tell anybody. Promise."

fondness had sort of always been written in his features around ivan. so much of his youth was marred with violence, with secrets and traumas he didn't know how to break away from. but ivan had often felt like a bright spot. safety, a hot meal, laughter. things he couldn't RELY ON anywhere else. "oh, don't i know it." he laughs, cheeks running hot at the idea. he had always felt so important when ivan watched his games. he knew, somewhere in the back of his mind, that he had wanted to send more than a few texts every couple of months, but his own mental health had so often kept him pinned down. once he was out of that town, in college for less than a year and then suddenly drafted into the nhl, he felt like he hadn't deserved much of anything from anyone, like taking too much would turn his lucky. but he missed ivan, even when he didn't mean to. "an' i'll be sitting in the box, cackling because i know you are." his voice burns with pride. i'd do it all over again if i had to. heat climbs up his neck, but he's ignoring it !! ivan said he had a crush on him back then!! that didn't mean RIGHT NOW! "thank god, because if we had to i'd still be barely passing all my classes." a beat, "bella thorne ain't got SHIT on me."

Ivan could see it so perfectly: Noah grinning to himself in the penalty box as Ivan pounds against the glass telling the ref to get his eyes checked.  It brought a smile to his lips knowing it was close to becoming a reality.  The thought of their lives tangling like vines and becoming a safe space for another yet again was enough to make his cheeks run hot.  While he so easily fessed up to his high school crush, he feared it was actually coming back tenfold.  Something Ivan wasn’t quite as ready to stomach.  He had just gotten Noah back the last thing he wanted was to shove him away.  Sure, Noah was cool about his crush back then, but that was way different than the present tense.  “I got good news for you, dude,” he says clapping a hand to Noah’s shoulder, trying to ignore the taut muscles beneath his palm.  “—pre calc can’t hurt you or Bella Thorne anymore.  You’re safe,” he teases with an easy grin.  

Her lips curl into a grin while her shot glass clashes against Fin's, giving the other a glance to her very decorated fingernails, before following the other's actions and drinking the shot quickly, eyes shut followed by a laugh before she is wiping the sides of her mouth, and reaching for her beer. "Maybe I'm just trying to make you fall in love with me." She teased back, leaning closer towards them until they were interrupted by Finley's bandmate, she laughs and pushes them towards their bandmate. "C'mon, get going, I'll see you later!" Love delivers her word and catches Finley's band set, pushing herself through the crown in company of Rogue, her full pink outfit standing out in the middle of the crowd while her eyes were glued to them through the whole performance. Love waved them goodbye when it was time for her to rush and get ready for her band's set, blowing a kiss in their direction as she slipped away into the crowd. Love actually does change her clothing into something bolder, stockings and boots, miniskirt and a lacy bra, all with the intent to find Finley in the crowd when she steps out.

With a fresh beer in hand, Fin weaves through the crowd with Scout at their heels so they could catch the next set. The house lights dim and the cheer of the crows is infectious. The moment Love steps onto the stage, Fin's heart is pounding violently in their chest. "Holy shit, the chick who decked you real good is hot," their bandmate teases them with a playful shove. The entire set is magnetic, but Fin wouldn't be able to tell you a single thing beyond anything regarding the fellow drummer. As their set finishes there's a eagerness to find her again after all the band's gear is packed away. "First you punch me in the nose and now you're trying to give me a heart attack? Have some mercy on me," they tease.

Lacey first brought Howie to her beach house in their sophomore year of college; they'd spent an entire weekend ignoring all of their responsibilities, getting drunk and watching the sun set each night. It became their little refuge; a place they could escape when everything felt a little too heavy or when they simply needed a break from school. It was no surprise then that he knew his way around so well and when they're finally alone in her room, she looks at him as though they're still those two kids. "I can't believe you're getting married." She knows she's had too much to drink, but she can't stop herself from wanting to turn back time. "And I swear to God I'm not trying to make it about me, but it feels like I'm losing you." Lacey tells him, trying to ignore the ache in her gut. There's a photo of them by her bedside; a selfie taken out on the beach, she's wearing his t-shirt and he's got his arm draped around her while she's sitting in his lap. These days, they don't share close anymore and they barely touch. "I'm not ready for that. I'm not okay with the fact that this might be the last birthday that I get to spend with you..."

Being back at the beach house make Howie feel like his was that college kid still figuring his life out all over again. All the long talks they shared under this roof, all the times he almost found the bravery to tell her how he really felt, it all came rushing back almost in an instant. Things seemed so simple back then. Howie had a whole life he was trying not to think about. He had a fiance back home who would surely give him the third degree once he got back. While she never outright accused him of cheating on her with Lacey, it was clear she liked using their closeness as leverage. His gaze flickers to the photo on her nightstand. To anybody else it would look like a photo of a happy couple. Howie missed the physical closeness between them, and the way her petite frame would so perfectly fit in his arms. She'd always melt right into his chest, smelling like sweet perfume. It always felt like Lucy was looking for the exit whenever he'd wrap his arms around her. It was just one of their many differences. Except he was already a failed doctor, he couldn't stomach a failed engagement too. He heard his father's voice in the back of his head telling him he needed to make this work. Howie offers Lacey a crooked grin as she speaks, "It's your birthday, Lace. I think you get a free pass to make things about you." It was just another reality he tried not to think about. While he could swear up and down that nothing would ever change between them he knew it would. It scared the hell out of him. "You're never going to lose me. We've been through too much. We know each other's secrets," he chuckles. Well most of the secrets. He was still keeping how he felt about her close to his chest.

His sleepy voice was always one of her favorite sounds. Hearing it again brings a smile to her lips, and she tilts her head back to look up at Seth. "I slept really good. Best sleep in like... three years?" Her smile widens and she stretches up, using her feet to push herself higher, to press a kiss to his lips. He felt like home. "Did you sleep well?" She can't bring herself to have any bigger of a conversation right after waking up.

Seth's heart warmed when Charlie says it was the best she's slept in three years. Spending this much time together in their old home only solidified that nothing felt quite like home to him the way Charlie and theirgirls did. This was his family and he wanted nothing more than to have this every damn day. "I don't think I've ever slept better," he grins. "We have a couple hours until the girls are home... want some breakfast?" And to talk, but he wanted to live in this delicate little bubble a little longer.

It felt cruel and she knew it was a blatantly false statement, but she was lashing out. Deflecting. Anything she could manage to avoid admitting the truth — to Owen, and to herself. "I am being real, you just don't like what I have to say."

Owen tries to disguise the hurt that statement caused with false confidence. They stood tall, shoulders square, trying to pretend like Eve questioning how well she knew her didn't like an uppercut to the gut. "That's bullshit, and we both know it, but if we're both just sayin' things the other doesn't want to hear... you can do so much better than him."
