â i just moved into the apartment next to you, so i guess weâre gonna be neighbors now. â / @greateststcrâ
It was one thing to run into each other at his neighborhood coffee shop. It had been where Gus would settle in and write-- rotating between drinking bitter black coffee and far too sweet iced lattes. It felt like life was moving in slow motion the moment she walked in. It wasnât like he didnât see bits of her all across the city-- posters of that band she liked, laughter that sounded a little too much like hers in the distance, the scent of her perfume coming from somebody near by on the subway. However, it was never really attached to her until now. Â
After a surprise reunion that lead to a few hours of playing catch up they parted ways to head back to their respective apartments, but it didnât take long for them to realize they were going in the same direction. When they approached the same building and it clicked that she was his new neighbor he was at a loss for words. Perhaps the only person he ever really loved, but was simply pulled away by the distance of settling on different coasts was now going to be just right across the hall. Â
âNeighbors,â he echoes in disbelief.   âIn that case do you maybe wanna come in? I can give you the lowdown on the building. Yâknow who who wanna avoid, which washers are gonna steal your quarters in the laundry room and all that.â Any excuse to have a little more time with her. Â
