My Tim Drake hot take is that if you exclusively like him from YJ98 or from Tim Drake : Robin, they you just don’t actually like the character
YJ98 is a good version of early career Tim but so much character development happens to him post that (see the entirety of the 2000s) that you can’t leave out for him
Tim Drake : Robin is probably the most boring and OOC version of Tim I’ve ever read. Genuinely barely the same character as basically any other comic featuring him not written by Fitzmartin
My Batman hot take is that Jason should have never moved into being a Punisher type of character and instead remained a tragic villain and the other batfamily members shouldn’t have welcomed him back with such open arms
Not only has Jason been repeating effectively the same boring story since New 52, but the batfamily core ethos is that killing is unacceptable and that it is the ultimate sin (see both Dick and Tim having breakdowns over thinking they accidentally killed people even though they didn’t), so having Jason be on good terms with then is just not in character for them at all (the pre-new 52 dynamic was, unsurprisingly, where it was best)
Holy shit we have acknowledgement of Tim’s weird bried period as Batman Beyond, what a niche pull
Comic fans who almost exclusively engage with the characters through the lens of making 2 characters who are friends kiss when actual comic writers do the same but with a straight couple:

Sure the “Tim is the smallest male Robin as an adult” HC is funny but honestly I think it would be funnier if he hit a late growth spurt
So my HC for the heights of the Robins as adults (Bruce is 6’2 for reference) would be:
Dick - 5’10
Jason - 6’4 (Lazarus Pit bonus)
Tim - 6’2 (him and Bruce being eye to eye just seems right)
Steph - 5’7 (still tall for a woman)
Damian - 6’0 (everyone thinks he would end up taller than them all but I think the extensive physical training he went through as a child will stunt his growth a little)
Slightly concerned from reading New History of the DC Universe #3 that Tim’s time as Red Robin and Steph’s time as Batgirl aren’t going to be acknowledged in the timeline
Damian is Robin, Bruce is dead and it seems like Flashpoint is about to happen at the end of the issue but no sign of either of their identity changes being mentioned
I’m filled with a certain level of distain when you can clearly tell that the person currently writing the character you like has spent far too much time consuming fan content of them and it’s bleeding through
I love the always-unhinged!Tim headcanons and aus, shout out to my fellow always-unhinged!Tim enjoyers
but there's something uniquely tragic about Tim being an absolutely run-of-the-mill kiddo, just an ordinary baby, slowly growing more and more jaded, paranoid and mentally ill over the course of his Robin career.
he could have led a 'normal' life. the loss of his parents would have hit him hard but he'd have his social circle to keep him afloat, money to feel financially secure. and he'd just live.
but Tim doesn't think about it at all anymore. he's knee-deep in his vigilante persona, his cases, his missions; duties and responsibilities. he's too busy to be bitter.
too busy with work, too busy with loved ones and friends' funerals, too busy missing somebody's hand by mere inches when they're willingly falling to their death and too busy drawing parallels between himself and them even before he hears the thud.
Tim doesn't think about if-onlys, doesn't even try to find the point where everything went wrong. he looks in the mirror and sees himself as he is at the moment. he doesn't comment on the fact he can see his friends taking a second glance at him sometimes as if they don't recognize him anymore.
Bruce's aware that all of his children lost their innocence far too young but with Tim... he could have stopped it before it even began. if only he were in a better place back then. if only he learned from his mistakes. if only he said no, I don't need another partner and I don't need another person to lean on and thank you, Tim, that's sweet of you but I'm alright.
If only—
Tim can hardly remember he was anyone else other than who he is. he can hardly imagine becoming anyone else other than who he is.
Bruce looks at Tim sometimes and sees a baby with toothy grin and soft locks of hair goofily framing his face; a boy so short that when Bruce looked at him he used to get a crick in his neck; one who used to laugh freely and with his whole chest.
he can't sleep those nights.
I think one of the saddest things about Tim as a character is that with most other characters tragedy in their lives fuels them to protect people, whereas all the tragedy in Tim’s life stems from him choosing of his own free will to help people.
Designs of the Robins that will appear as Batmen in DC K.O : Knightfight by Dan Mora
Clockwise - Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Damian Wayne & Tim Drake
Love all of them.
Dick’s have blue nightwing-esque symbol
Jason keeping red as a primary colour
Tim’s is probably the most different from any of his previous suits, but it looks great, love the blue and yellow
I like Damian’s being a bit of mash up of his previous grey and black Robin suit as well as the Batman #666 costume he wore

DICK GRAYSON/NIGHTWING & TIM DRAKE/ROBIN in NIGHTWING (1996)
Dick: You patrol with Bruce often?
Tim: Nah, too busy. Can't fit it into my schedule.
Dick: Cool, cool.
Dick: So, wanna go with me instead?
Tim: !!! YES PLEASE :D
Listen I know it’s a Tom King idea so it would probably have been terrible, but when Ric Grayson happened, the initial pitch was to have Tim Drake take over as Nightwing while he recovered.
Even got as far as Travis Moore making concept art (original + fan colouring)
Sadly it got nixed for Bendis’ Young Justice but honestly given the string of terrible comics Tim has been in since 2019 I’m actually intrigued on what it would have been like.
Wally West, the MOST skrunkly
Tim crashing out at Batman is the only way to write him, bless this run 🙏❤️

i have never related to a comic panel more than this one.
Looking through Fitzmartin’s DC credits is a fucking killers row of shite.
Tim Drake : Robin, Dark Crisis : Young Justice, Future State : Robin Eternal, the Tim Drake pride special.
Genuinely embarassing that the person who has written the most about Tim coming out gets completely outdone by the one-shots in every subsequent pride special.
In summary, Fitzmartin’s writing:
